This caregiver has taken in twin girls age 13 and she has a 14 year old daughter herself. This caregiver is a recent amputee and is unable to work at this time. She has been denied disability benefits and only receives $23 a month in food stamps. She is in a 2 bedroom apartment but is on a list for a 3 bedroom apartment. She is requesting bunk beds, bedding, personal hygiene needs, school supplies, clothes (size 10-12), shoes (size 8.5), and immediate grocery assistance. In addition, she would like a gift card for Cali’s Beauty Supply so that she can get hair needs for the girls so that they can attend school and not be bullied.

This family recently started working with the Department. Concerns involved domestic violence which led to mom leaving her husband. Through this process she has become the sole provider and is 100% responsible for the kids, especially now that her mom recently passed away. Mom has been financially dependent on father but is now working two jobs to try and keep the apartment she is currently in. Her son has unexpectedly needed to have surgery this week, so she had to access funds for her rent and groceries.
