We have a remarkable young lady in foster care who recently celebrated her 18th birthday. She is the youngest of 10 and has a twin sister. Having spent most of her life in foster care, she has faced numerous challenges and trauma, including failed adoption attempts. Despite our efforts to connect her and her sister with family for adoption, these attempts have not been successful. To make her birthday special and to create memorable experiences as she transitions into adulthood, we are eager to support her passion for basketball. We reached out to Lynette Woodard, the first female Harlem Globetrotter, and her team responded enthusiastically. This connection is particularly exciting as Lynette is a celebrated figure in the sport! She has begun communicating with Lynette and considers her a mentor. We would like to further facilitate this relationship by arranging for Lynette to come and provide one-on-one basketball training sessions. We are seeking assistance in funding this opportunity and would like to know if you would be willing to help cover the cost of two hours of training, which is priced at $250 for each hour. We would love to partner with CarePortal and a local church to make this dream a reality. Would you be interested in contributing to this unforgettable experience for her? With seven children in her care (five at home and two staying with a sister), she's facing an urgent need: a new tire for her van. This is crucial for her to get around, especially as she's currently unable to work her usual two retail jobs due to the newborn. While she also needs a cell phone replacement, the tire is the immediate priority.

If you're able to help, this is a wonderful chance to show love and encouragement to a mom who deeply deserves our support. Let's remind her she's not alone—she's part of a caring community.

This hard-working, single mom has a 4 year old son and is currently pregnant with her second child. She wakes up in the middle of the night every week day to get herself and her son ready before bringing him to childcare and starting work around 5 am! Without the support of family nearby, this mother is making many heroic sacrifices to provide for her son and to prepare for her unborn baby. A kitchen table and a new mattress would be greatly appreciated to create a place of rest and "home" for this little family.

CSW is requesting assistance for the family to obtain needed back to school clothing and shoes for the children. Parents were evicted from their apartment in April 2025. They are struggling financially and emotionally. In order to avoid living on the streets, the parents have moved in temporarily in with paternal relatives. The parents are working hard to save up for their own apartment however it has been difficult for them as they need to provide for their three young children as well. Mother is working part time as a security guard. Father is unemployed however he picks up shifts doing uber eats when possible. mother has worked hard to provide the children with a stable home free of any violence. Once the children were back in her care, she reduced the hours she was able to work so that she could tend to the children’s needs, ensuring they are taken to school, are able to do their homework, and eat a healthy meal. She has demonstrated her deep love for the children by nurturing them and providing them with stable home environment where they have been able to thrive. A small setback in their budget creates additional stress on the family. If the family were to receive assistance with clothing and shoes for the children it would help relieve some of that stress and allow the family to recover financially. The family was able to successfully meet their goals with the Department and the case is scheduled to close with DCFS next week.

Family needs a refrigerator for their family of 7. Mother has been looking for support from family and community resources to obtain a new refrigerator. Mother has been unable to locate funds and is in dire need of a new refrigerator to be able to salvage some of the recent groceries and also be able to have food in the home for the children. Mother has not been successful. Although, Mother is having that challenge, mother is meeting the case plan goals/court orders. Mother is committed to maintaining the family together. Mother is actively working on fixing her familial relationships. Mother is employed, and is doing everything needed to maintain her family. The main reason I am requesting this need to be fulfilled is for mother to be able to maintain and provide a safe environment for the children and a refrigerator for food. Requesting A BIG SIZED fridge that can have ample room for 7 household members, otherwise the consequence would be that mother will be unable to store food for the family in a safe manner. This need is being requested through Care Portal because unfortunately DCFS can not provide this item as soon as possible and the refrigerator is needed as soon as possible. . The estimated cost of the need/s being requested is insert a realistic estimated $700-1200.00. Mother stated she would take any refrigerator that can be of size to store food and perishable items for her family of 7.

Mother had her items stolen, including her phone. She has been working hard to get back on her feet for the sake of her daughter. We are reaching out to the community for help in replacing her phone and supporting her in providing food for her daughter. A previous mom we helped some time ago has stated the bed we gave is now worn. A photo was provided to show that. She would appreciate a twin bed for her son (mattress and box springs and rails, or platform frame) and a comforter. This will help her son to get the sleep he needs to be healthy and feel secure.

A family of 5 is in need of a bed for their oldest son. He is in high school and is need of a full-sized bed. The family has suffered a few set backs and are working hard to get back on their feet. Having a bed will greatly improve the quality of life for this teenage boy. Please consider helping with this need.

There is an individual within the church that coaches underprivileged children that is in need of athletic gear / shoes / cleats for a few of the children in order for them to remain active in sports this summer and throughout the upcoming school year.. mainly he is in need of basketball shoes any sizes and size 12.5 men's cleats and tennis/ basketball shoes. If u have any kids or adult shoes for males new or used in good condition that u would like to donate please please reach out these kids are desperately needing these to continue with the well-being of their athletic abilities not to mention being active in sports helps with the mental well being of our children in today's society
