Help Prevent a Child From Entering Foster Care
I am writing to request to assistance for a child recently placed under IPA due to concerns involving her birth mother’s drug use. The infant has been placed with her paternal grandmother, who is doing everything possible to provide a safe and nurturing environment during this difficult transition.
the grandmother is currently in urgent need of essential baby supplies to meet the infant’s needs. Specifically, she is requesting support with the following items:
- Diapers (size 1 Huggies)
- A baby stroller
- A baby bathtub
- Glass baby bottles
- Attitude® brand laundry detergent (or another hypoallergenic detergent), as the baby is experiencing a skin reaction to the detergent previously used in her former placement. This support will greatly help ensure the baby’s health, comfort, and stability during this critical time. Any assistance your organization can provide—or referrals to other community resources—would be deeply appreciated.
Thank you for your compassion and continued dedication to vulnerable families.

Help Preserve a Kinship Placement
We are trying to help preserve a kinship placement. The family took on 2 kids (a newborn with medical issues and a toddler with developmental issues) to help prevent them from coming into state custody. In the time they have had the kids they broke some expensive items (ex. A retainer) that they had to get repaired and had to buy items for the children which set them back financially. The family is on the verge on being evicted. The apartment complex has delayed starting the eviction process due to the department willing to help the family. The family has not had financial issues before and this is a one time thing, and it is putting their plans on hold as they have their own youth about to go to college. Payment can be made electronically online. Rent is $2,028.34. If they start the eviction they will add $498.50 to the fee. Family said they will only need $800 as they have the rest of the money. The family is also behind on their electric bill which is $150 and can be paid electronically.
Anything is helpful as this is the only family who could take these children. If the family gets evicted the children are at extreme risk at coming into state custody.
Thank you in advanced and have a blessed day!

Help Prevent a Child From Entering Foster Care
Hi there and thank you for checking this request. I am a DCS Family Support Services case manager in Maury County and I have a family of six who desperately needs help with a special Amino Acid-Modified Food for three of the five children. The children cannot process protein and need a special formula to provide a protein substitute. The family is trying to get insurance in order to pay for this formula but the insurance has been pending for over a month. Each can costs $45 and the children need a total of one can per day. If the family does not acquire insurance in the next week, the children will be going into Tennessee DCS custody in order for the children to have insurance and receive the formula and other necessary medications. All the prescriptions are covered by insurance. The formula can be purchased at Abbott Store and I am providing a link to the formula. Go To Link
Any amount is helpful, but a case would greatly help. Thank you so much for considering this family.

Case Manager has a recently widowed mother with 4 children who are currently homeless. They have been approved for Homeless No More but have not found housing. They are currently at Columbia Inn but today is their last day. They have utilized their family as resources and have nowhere else to reside. Contact has been made with various agencies in the community with no luck. I have placed a referral with DCS Fiscal, but it takes a while for them to respond. The hotel is $105 per night. The mother is employed and has reliable transportation. I am requesting assistance with one week for housing. Any assistance would be appreciated.

Help Prevent a Child From Entering Foster Care
Case Worker is looking to avoid taking child into custody.
Child was living with grandmother in a home that needs inspection for livable standards. Grandmother and child have been moved to a local hotel.
Case worker has reached out to a local home inspection company for an estimate of $425.00 for services.
Family needs to have a home inspection completed to determine what repairs that must be completed for the house to be livable. This will need to include foundation, electric (fuse box included on this), mold, roof (we are aware there is a leak but not sure if the whole roof needs to be replaced). A detailed check list of what must be completed prior to the family being able to return to the home will be needed for DCS to allow family to return back to the home.
Grandmother is very grateful for any assistance and is on a small budget.

Help Preserve a Kinship Placement
Hi all! I am currently working with a grandmother who has had custody of her four grandchildren. When meeting with the family, she was telling me about her home catching fire about 2 years ago and how 5 areas of her home were salvageable enough to continue living there. They are a bit cramped in the areas they live in, but making it work. Recently they have been trying to arrange some of their furniture and personal items that was salvaged so that they can put walls up to make new rooms. I had also noticed during the visit that they had one small window A/C unit cooling the home, but it was barely cooling the rooms down. I asked the caregiver if she would feel comfortable with me submitting a request asking for some storage totes and a standing A/C unit, and she agreed. For the family, I am asking for 6 storage containers and a standing A/C unit. I have looked on Lowe’s for estimated prices/products for examples. (A/C unit: Item #4350808 Model #AP0722CW1W and Storage Containers: Item #44066 Model #44066).
