We have a 3rd grade boy who is one of 7 kids of a single mom. Mom is trying hard to provide for her kids and she does a good job, but money is tight. The 3rd grade boy has tennis shoes that are getting to be small, and his toe is sticking out his shoes. He does not have summer shoes or sandals. Mom currently does not have enough funds to buy summer clothes for all 7 kids. He sometimes gets picked on for not having clothes that fit him or for wearing the same couple of outfits over and over again. We would love if we could gift him some new shoes and clothes to help him dress appropriately for the weather and prepare him for summer. He needs: Boys size 1 summer shoes/sandals Boys size 1 tennis shoes Some boys shorts in size 7/8 or 8 T-shirts for summer in size 7/8 or 8 The family is open to a donor buying the items with a gift receipt in case of need to return for different size, color, etc. OR a gift card to any store that supplies children's clothing. A mom and her young daughter are in need of a renewed bus pass for the next month. The bus is their only form of transportation to get around town and especially school and appointments. The current bus pass expires on May 16th.

I am reaching out on behalf of two brothers from a low-income family who are in urgent need of glasses. Both boys are very active and, unfortunately, have recently broken their glasses. This is a critical issue as they are currently preparing for end-of-year testing and school projects, where clear vision is essential for their success. The cost of replacing their glasses is a significant financial burden, and without them, they could struggle to perform academically. We kindly request assistance to provide them with the glasses they need so they can continue their education without this added challenge. I am writing on behalf of an Afghan refugee family currently residing in Holland, Michigan. The family consists of two parents and four young children, aged 10, 5, 3½ years, and 6 months. Their primary language is Pashto, and we are working closely with them as they adjust to life in the United States. The family recently relocated from Lansing to Holland in search of better opportunities and support for their growing children. The father previously worked in Lansing and is actively seeking employment here in Holland to provide for his family. We are meeting with them regularly to assist with English language learning, employment resources, and community integration. At this time, the family is in urgent need of rental assistance. They are working hard to become self-sufficient, but due to their recent move and limited financial resources, they are struggling to meet housing costs. We are advocating on their behalf and kindly request your consideration for any available support or emergency housing assistance.

This family is in need of new tires for their family vehicle as the current tires have little to no tread and should be replaced soon. This family has one family vehicle, and this vehicle is used to deliver and pick up children from school and is the mother's main transportation to and from work. This family has limited financial resources to purchase all four tires needed for their vehicle; however, they would be able to budget for half the cost of this need.

This family is in great need of items we were not able to provide via our school care services. The items are basic needs that will help them get through the school year and in to summer.

Biological mother is in need of assistance with vehicle issues. Th vehicle is in need of repairs that are approximately $2,000. This quote was give by Hank's Auto Service. This vehicle is the mother's primary mode of transportation and she is in need of a working vehicle to ensure she is able to maintain her employment as well as continue to transport her children to/from their appointments. This mother has continued to work diligently to rectify barriers that brought her children into care. We are approaching a reunification and having a vehicle is vital for her to continue making progress on barriers and support the reunification of her and her 3 children. If any church would be willing to donate to help pay for the repairs, or volunteer to assist with the labor involved in fixing the vehicle, that would be very appreciated. Thank you for considering!

Venture Academy offers a unique program that customizes education to fit individual student needs. Venture Academy services students in 9-12th grades that face academic, social and economic challenges. Items outside of our funding budget are not funded through Zeeland Public Schools. One of the crucial items we need are internet hotspots so that students who do not have internet at home can continue to work from home when situations require this (i.e. travel between parental homes, no internet in the home, etc). This request covers two hotspots for the academic year 2025-26. Thank-you for considering this need and helping our students succeed.

There are two families living in this home, there is three children living in the home. Two single moms. Both are currently not working, one was just laid off two weeks ago. The other one recently arrived to Holland with her children. They are working with LAUP staff to obtain employment. They are in need of financial help to pay their rent. The rent is a total of 1,650 but family is asking for 600 or anything that may go towards their rent.

A single mother, recently left by her husband and going through a divorce, is disabled (cancer treatment) but is working part-time and has 4 children attending Zeeland Public Schools. Her home has only 1 bathroom but, due to a leak and surrounding water damage, the risk of electrocution prevents the family from using the shower. Mom has been taking them to other places to bathe for the past 6 months. Recently, several agencies helped this family secure the $20,000 to pay for the mold remediation and home repair which is to begin 4/24/2025. Unfortunately, the family cannot live in the home while the mold issues and construction are being dealt with and so must find a place to live for approximately 1 month. Possible solutions could be a donor who has a rental property or cottage that is vacant at this time where the family can stay or perhaps one or multiple donors working together to cover an extended stay at a motel. The family is open to any viable options but does request that the location has a kitchen since they are a low-income family and cannot afford to eat all of their meals out. Groceries or gift cards for groceries and/or restaurants could also be helpful during this time. Thank you greatly for considering how you can help!

Mom and family have managed to find places to stay for the past two weeks. During that time, mold has been removed and the construction will begin on Monday, May 12, 2025 and will last approximately two weeks. The family does not have a place to stay for the last 2 weeks of this process and are asking if anyone has an RV or camper they could use or would be willing to cover two weeks at an extended stay which would be approximately $1, 750. Any options are appreciated and donors who can help with any amount will be accepted with much gratitude. Please consider.

The mother has located a condo that is available from Sunday-Friday of this coming week. There is a kitchen and a washer and dryer so the family could cook and also do their laundry. The cost for this condo would be $656. Is there a donor out there who can help with this week-either part or all? Please consider as this family has been very displaced during this time and it is very wearing on all of them. Any help would be appreciated!

This request is to pay for glasses for two separate Holland High students who are siblings. 4 our of the 5 members of the family have glasses, and these two students are in need of updated prescriptions. I have spoke with both students, and they have confirmed they are having a hard time seeing the board, even with being in the front of their classes.

In speaking with mom, it sounds like the cost of these glasses is a lot for her to handle. She is a single mother, and with so many people in the home needing glasses, the cost is prohibitive.

Both of these students are incredibly kind and were very grateful that I could offer some potential help through CarePortal, as was mom. The services have been invoiced, and can be paid directly at the family's eye care doctor, West Ottawa Eye Care.

A single dad and his 14 year-old son who attends Escape after-school programs have been floating between hotels and relatives' homes for 18 months after a series of unfortunate events. They have been approved for an apartment and need assistance to get the first month's rent and security deposit squared away. Dad is working full-time 3rd shift and picking up jobs during the day as well. "It would give us a new beginning and a peaceful place to start new together."
