I have a family that is working to stay together. The mother just got approval to move into her new apartment with her young child. She is needing to get all of her belongings out of storage but due to unfortunate circumstances she could not keep up with the monthly payment. Her storage unit is up for auction this Friday July 18, 2025. With this assistance mom will not need to start over in her new apartment. Everything she currently owns is inside of the storage unit.

IIS is requesting assistance in paying a family’s electricity bill. A single mother of four who is helping her cousin and their child has had her electricity turned off by Evergy. Mom has worked diligently to reach out to local resources and even attempted to take out a loan to pay off her bill. Prior to the electricity being turned off, the mom had believed that there was an automatic pledge assisting with this bill. She was unaware of the bill's high amount until the electricity was turned off. Currently, we have not been able to find a resource that can assist in meeting this need elsewhere in the community. The family is currently unable to stay in the home due to the significant heat the area is experiencing. There are 2 adults in the home. There are five children, ages 10, 6, 5, 3, 1.

If we are able to meet this need the family can resume staying in the home and safely avoid the excessive heat. If the family is able to resume staying in the home they can begin to focus on using their finances to pay off debt and not seek out temporary living stations (hotels, etc).

The bill is currently 730 dollars to get the electricity back on in the home. At this time, IIS and its organization are approved to pay approximately 430 dollars. Any additional assistance meeting the remainder of the 300 dollars to get the electricity into the home would be amazing to help this family.

Please consider helping a single mom of 2 little girls. Mom is unfortunately $1500 behind in rent. Her car has broken down twice and she has been unable to get her children to daycare and herself to work. Our agency is helping with the car repair. However, mom now has a pending eviction due to getting so behind in rent while not being able to work. To top things off, her air conditioner has gone out and the landlord will not fix it due to the back rent owed. Mom is securing income-based housing in 2 weeks, so we are in need of helping her to get this paid off so she can move into a stable place for her family. Thank you for considering helping this family to stay together and not lose their housing!

This family has 2 kiddos brothers age 8 and 6 years old. They were brought into care because their mother was having a mental health issue. The kiddos were placed with the grandparents and soon after the grandmother passed. The kiddos were then placed with the aunt and uncle. They are requesting a Bunk bed with a full-size bed on bottom. They will also need bedding for the beds. This would help this family have some peace. Thank You

We have a mother of two young children who has obtained housing and is in need of a uhaul truck rental to transport furnishings into the new home. Once the apartment is furnished and approved, the children can begin having visits in Mom's home with the aim of transitioning them to living with her full-time. Mom's apartment being equipped and deemed appropriate for the children is a primary barrier to reunification, so assistance in transporting the furniture would help the family overcome a huge hurdle toward reunification!

The mother has been connected with a furniture bank and just needs a rental truck arranged and funded so that she can transport the furniture. Alternatively, if there are community members with their own truck(s) able to transport a number of large furniture items (furnishings for multiple rooms in the home), that could also meet the family's needs.

The parent has recently escaped an unhealthy living situation and is now living independently with her two children. As she transitions to self-sufficiency, she is facing financial hardship, and her water service is at risk of disconnection due to a delinquent bill.

A 17-year-old recently received her own bedroom and is looking to make it her own! She has a bed and vanity but is looking for a tall dresser, a vanity stool, pink and/or white curtains, and some LED lights. She loves the colors pink and white and would love these items in those colors. Thank you for helping her create her safe space!

Good afternoon. I am requesting community assistance to help a older pregnant homeless youth on my caseload with getting some temporary food assistance. The youth in question is 19, pregnant, and a MO Children's Division Foster Youth. The youth is 4-6 weeks pregnant and is currently couch surfing until a permanent safe placement option can be found for her. We are requesting $100 gift card at maybe Walmart to help the youth purchase food for the next month. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Good afternoon. I am requesting community assistance to help a 19 yr old pregnant homeless Foster Youth with getting a temporary storage unit to store her stuff until she can find stable housing. The youth in question is currently homeless and is couch surfing until we can locate a stable placement option. All of her personal items including clothing, , etc were being stored at a friends home but her "friend" no longer wants the items in her home and has threatened to throw everything out. We are requesting $150 to help with obtaining and paying for a 2-3 month storage unit so the youth has a safe place to store her belongings. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank You!

Family is needing A/C window unit for child's room. Family has one unit in living room. Having an A/C unit in the child's room will help the child sleep better and be more comfortable.

We have a 20-year-old girl who is attempting to age out of care, but is having trouble getting on her feet. She had car issues with her first car, and was able to save up and buy another car just a few months ago. She is now having issues with her current car, which is a 2004 Chevy Cavalier. She recently started work at Panda Express, but is only making $16 an hour. She is working part-time hours as she was also working part-time with a landscaping business on weekends. Panda Express is still hiring and therefore, hasn't been able to increase her hours. Due to the issues she is having with her car's acceleration, she has not been able to resume work with the landscaping business and is missing out on money. Her job at Panda Express is 18 minutes away from her placement, which has forced her to spend a good portion of her income on Ubering to and from work. She is also planning to attend the Phlebotomy program at KCKCC this fall and will therefore need reliable transportation for that. She previously took her car to Auto Zone and had diagnostics run. She purchased a new starter and spent over $200, but is still having issues that she can't currently afford to assess and fix. Any support would be appreciated, whether that is financial or someone who can help assess and diagnose the problem(s) with her car.

We have a grandmother who agreed to move into her daughter's home to prevent 4 children from being removed from the home. Grandma is doing everything she can to maintain 4 young children in her home but this has caused her to lose her form of employment. The home was unclean when Grandma moved into the home but due to lack of funds and having her hands full, she is struggling to get the home back to the cleanliness it was prior to now. We are looking for cleaning supplies for Grandma or a cleaning company willing to to go to the home to assist the family so they can keep their home and children happy, healthy, and clean.
