Child has grown up in and out of foster care. Child was raised without knowing who his father was. In 2023 Mother named a man, after DNA results, in Dec 2023- the child found out who his biological father was. Much to father's surprise, as he was informed he could not have children. Father quickly began visiting and getting to know his son. Over a year has passed since they have first met and things have dramatically changed for father and son. They attend family therapy together and are building their relationship. Father was displaced after breaking up with his girlfriend who was not welcoming to the child, after the breakup father was set to move to a home in Pasadena in Jan 2025. Sadly, the home they were supposed to move into- was burned down by the Eaton Fire. Father found housing in Glendora. Father is in need of a couch, dining table and even a TV. Child loves to play video games and uses video games to escape and get his mind off of things such as the emotional toll that visits with his mother and siblings. Father has worked so hard to be able to find a stable place that court can release the child to, and despite his initial home that burned down; he did not give up and did not let that bring him down. Single mother who just moved from other state trying to rebuild life with her son in new city. Dad is not in picture and mom is trying her best to keep herself and child safe and happy. She is in need of rental assistance to support her and her son. Any support is greatly appreciated.

Client is a young mother who recently re-entered foster care. During our conversation, the client expressed a need for a crib for her baby. She is currently unemployed, having recently lost her job, and is actively seeking employment opportunities. At this time, she is not eligible for financial assistance through DCFS.

Client shared that obtaining a crib would alleviate a major stressor, allowing her to focus on job searching and stabilizing her situation. The crib is essential for ensuring her baby has a safe sleeping environment. Client is hopeful that, with the right support, she will be able to meet her parenting goals and provide a secure home for her child.

We are requesting immediate support for a homeless mother whose only vehicle is currently out of commission. She has secured a trusted mechanic who is ready to do the work — we simply need help covering the cost of the repair.

Reliable transportation is essential for this mother to ensure her child gets to school on time each day and for her to maintain steady employment. She is working hard to transition out of homelessness, and this car is her only means of transportation.

Without this vehicle, her child’s education and her ability to provide for her family are at serious risk. Your support will remove a major barrier for this family and help them continue moving toward stability and self-sufficiency.

I am requesting assistance with a crib and a mattress for this family. The family is composed of the parents and four children (ages 4y, 6y, 8y, and 11mo). The mother is a stay-at-home mother; the father is employed and is the sole financial provider for the family. The 11-month-old child is currently co-sleeping in the same bed as the parents. The mother requested assistance in obtaining a crib and a mattress for the baby since at this time the parents cannot afford to buy one. If the crib and the mattress are provided to the family, it would ensure a safe sleep environment for the child and it would reduce the risk of SIDS.

Mother needs a crib for her one year old child and 2 twin beds for her 6 and 4 year old children. Mother had beds for her children but father kept it and due to ongoing DV mother does not want to ask for it. Although, mother is having that challenge, she is trying to her hardest to provide for her children. Furthermore, mother is committed to maintain her children with her. mother is trying to better herself, is knowledgeable of children’s needs and is present.Mother’s goals are to be able to live on her own. For these reasons, I am advocating for caregiver to have the need identified met. The main reason I am requesting this need to be fulfilled is because mother is having a hard time having money to buy beds for her children due to father being the breadwinner. Father is upset mother does not want to get back with her after the DV incident that involved DCFS in their life. Mother refuses to get back with father and father is using this to not give her the children basic needs. The mother is currently working as a security guard and as a Lyft driver for extra income. Mother reported that the family is struggling financially and asked for resources to a food bank. The mother is also requesting $200 gift card to food 4 less.

Mother needs a tablet for her child. Child had one and broke it. Due to family just coming to America 3 years ago, they don’t have the means to buy another one. Although, mother is having that challenge, she is trying to her hardest to provide for her child. Furthermore, mother is committed to maintain her children with her. During my work with mother, I have identified the following strengths: mother is trying to better herself, is knowledgeable of child’s needs and is present.. DCFS will continue to link the family to community services such as food banks, counseling, etc. This need is being requested through Care Portal because unfortunately DCFS will provide the item but the timeframe DCFS takes would be too long as some requests take up to 8 – 10 weeks. I am currently working with a family in need. The household includes a mother and her three children—two boys, ages 11 and 6, and a 5-month-old daughter. The mother is incredibly resilient and has navigated many challenges throughout her journey in motherhood. At present, she is unemployed and under significant stress due to the father's absence from the home and his lack of support, particularly in caring for their 6-year-old son, who has been diagnosed with autism and requires high levels of care. The family lives in a single-family home with very worn out and damaged furniture and limited clothing. Currently, the mother shares a mattress with both of her sons and her infant daughter. To help improve their living conditions and promote the children’s safety and comfort, the Department would like to assist the family in obtaining the following items: bedding, and a double seat stroller. By providing these basic necessities would not only ease the mother’s emotional and financial burdens but also allow the children to have their own beds, helping them get proper rest to start their days well. TWO REQUESTS ARE BEING SUBMITTED FOR THIS FAMILY (one for the bedding and a second for the double stroller).

We have a single mother who is in need of a convertible car seat for her son. The mother left the baby’s father who was the abuser. Currently, the baby has a infant car seat that he has outgrown. The mother does not have any family supports in the state and she is currently struggling financially. Mother takes care of the son's basic needs, but she cannot afford anything beyond this. The mother is in the process of going back to school and looking for a job so that she can support herself and her 1-year-old son. Single mother is residing with her four children in one bedroom apartment. She is non-English speaking and has very limited support. She has been able to maintain her apartment but is struggling financially to make ends meet. Due to her lack of work experience and inability to speak English, she has not been able to maintain employment. The children are in need of clothing and beds.

The referred family is requesting assistance with making payment for a past due balance on their electricity bill. Mother is currently experiencing financial hardships, and is not currently working, and the family cannot allocate funds towards making this payment. The family has been using flashlights in the evenings to move around the home, as there is no light. They have also been using a cooler to store their food as there is no electricity for the fridge. The family would be appreciative of any help and want to explore all options to make their children as comfortable as possible at home.”
