The client is a single parent in her late 40s caring for her 15yo bio-son and her 4yo daughter (who is biologically considered a Non-Related-Extended-Family-Member). While the client does receive a little financial assistance/help around the house from her long-term best friend/roommate, the client has been raising her daughter since she was just a few months old with no official financial assistance. Though the client is looking into applying for CalWORKs, those funds wouldn’t kick in for a least another few months. Since raising her, the client has co-slept with her daughter. While this has worked in the past, as her daughter continues to grow, the client has been hoping to get her, her own “big-girl” bed. Ideally the client would like a Twin sized bed/mattress so that it will continue to fit her daughter as she grows. The family is also requesting a $150 gift card to Target if possible. Those funds would go towards bedding and pillow for the daughter, as well as other household needs—hygiene supplies, cleaning supplies, etc. The client has expressed her gratitude with whatever assistance the family is able to get.

Young expectant mom is pregnant and due early next year with a baby boy. She currently doesn't have a bassinet, car seat, or stroller and doesn't have the financial ability or family support to be able to get these items on her own. She has been through a lot in her life and has become hardened to the world around her. She is breaking down her walls in our program and is really needing some help for her baby boy on the way. There are convertible strollers that have a basinet, carseat, and stroller combo that would be helpful for the safety and wellbeing of her and her son.

The client is in her mid-40s and is a single parent to 5 children with special needs—her 4 bio-children and her 10yo sister. The client has been raising her sister since March of 2023 without any financial assistance. While the client has started the process of getting guardianship over her sister, she’s limited in what she can do to help her sister before temporary guardianship is given. As a result, the minor’s MediCal has ended, and she currently has no insurance. Thankfully, the client was able to get her sister to see a doctor/dentist before the insurance expired, but now it seems like the minor might need glasses—she’s been complaining of having a difficult time seeing at school. The client was originally going to wait until insurance kicked in for her to get the sister’s eyes tested. However, since the child has been complaining, the client wants to try and get her glasses asap. The client is requesting help purchasing prescription glasses for her sister w/o insurance (the glasses are likely to cost between $200-300). The client has expressed her gratitude for any and all support that can be provided to the family.

Clients are a married couple, grandfather is 82 and grandmother is 67 years old. The caregivers are adopting 3 children, of Hispanic / Caucasian ethnicity, due to the children’s Kinship Caregiver passing away in 2021. (The families knew each other through attending Kinship Support Group in San Diego County.) The children’s ages are 9, 11, and 13. The clients also have shared custody with 2 children, of black ethnicity, who reside in Tuscon Arizona while school is in session. These children are 9, and 11 years old, they spend holiday breaks and summer living with the Giovingo family.
The caregivers recently struggled to obtain a loan to purchase a home large enough to meet the RFA standards for a family of 7. They require assistance with unpacking their belongings and setting up the home to meet all RFA standards. They are also requesting 3 bunk beds for the children.
When this need is met, client will be able to provide a stable home that is approved by the Resource Family Approval, RFA, once that is accomplished they can focus on moving to adopting the children.
