PAL (Preparation for Adult Living) is taking 20 youth to a college conference. This conference allows foster youth to hear from youth with lived experience who are currently attending college, benefits for attending college, and getting youth excited for their future. We are in need of additional assistance for some items needed:

• 20 beach towels
• Snacks for 20 youth for three days
• Hygiene packs (body wash, shampoo and conditioner, wash cloth, mouth wash and deodorant)

A young Mom and dad live in the household with their toddler son. Mom was laid off from her job and could not pay her portion of the rent. Mom and dad are in college and doing the best they can to take care for their son and maintain their stability. Mom and dad needs immediate help with one month of rental assistance to remain in their home with their son. Mom is working with uber and door dash to maintain their stability after receiving assistance.

Male student age 17 passed from being hit by car and mental illness. Sibling age 14 grieving. Mother passed away from cancer a few years ago. Father works but does not have all of the money for funeral of 3,000 dollars and add ons. Father reports that student's organs saved three lives, a teen, a toddler and middle aged woman and that his son would have wanted it that way because he was kind. Hospital is going to provide some of the costs but has not informed parent as of yet. Father says any help would be appreciated as he counting on donations to help with services. I am reaching out to request your support in helping a young female adult aging out of foster and moving into her first apartment. She is in need of the following items: full size bedsheets, comforter, pillows, pots and pans, cups, bowls, spoon, forks, plates, knife, can opener, mop, broom, cleaning supplies, female hygiene products, and dining room set. I have a young adult in a HCS placement. This young adult needs continued stimulation for her growth. The young adult loves to color, draw, paint etc. She is very creative and it helps her with her stress. This young adult is limited on supplies at her placement. The young adult also has a small space she can work. A personal desk or television tray would be perfect for her to have to continue her artistic side. Any help would be greatly appreciated for this young adult.

I have a 12yo child that was placed in a kinship placement. She is in need of school uniforms for a new school she was enrolled in. This will help her not be in dress code violation. She will also need a dresser to store her clothing. She does not have storage, and this will help with storage.

We have a family displaced to a hotel in the Hobby airport area. We have helped them in various ways including providing mileage reimbursement. However, 2011 Volkswagen Routan SEL has broken several times. She says it gets overheated and uses alot of oil. In addition, the battery is dead. We are not sure exactly what is needed.

The parent was able to replace her battery yesterday. She put oil in it, but it all leaked out. She was able to call a mobile mechanic, and he told her the part that she needed to order from Amazon. It will be here tomorrow. He wants $450.00 for labor. Our new request is someone to put the part on or an affordable resource.

Help a Teen Prepare for Hospital Admission This Week

A teenage girl in our care is being admitted to a long-term psychiatric hospital this Wednesday to receive urgent mental health care.

The hospital has a strict dress code, and she doesn’t currently have enough clothing that meets the requirements. We are asking for help by collecting Walmart gift cards or arranging a Walmart pickup order to purchase 10 changes of plain clothes and 3 pairs of shoes before her admission.

The estimated total to get clothes from Walmart is $250. Gift cards of any amount are appreciated—even $10 or $20 will help us meet her needs.

The family just had a newborn. The family is low-income, and they do not have furniture in the home. They also could benefit from baby formula since they just gave birth to a newborn. They currently have safety monitors who have to live in the home, but they do not have beds for them.

Single mother with 3 children are in need of emergency beds since they moved into a new home. Two of the children are autistic, the mother is need of a set of bunkbeds and a pack and play crib. The mother needs a twin bed for herself too.

A single mother of two teenage sons is seeking financial assistance to cover the costs associated with securing a new apartment. The necessary expenses include an application fee of $35 and a deposit of $250. The family was recently evicted and is currently staying in a hotel. The mother is employed and expects to receive her paycheck on Friday evening. In addition to the application fee and deposit, she requires $149.30 to cover two nights of hotel accommodations. With this support, she hopes to move into the new apartment by Monday. The new residence is more affordable than their previous dwelling, making it a sustainable housing option. Assistance in this matter would provide the family with a safe and stable place to stay during this transitional period.

A family with a single mother and three children has experienced homelessness over the past year. Their homelessness has included periods living in a hotel, staying with friends, and residing in a shelter. The mother was able to secure employment and save enough funds for a deposit and two months' rent to move into an apartment. After significant sacrifices, the family is now living in their own apartment; however, due to financial constraints, they have limited resources. The family is in need of furniture such as three bed frames with mattresses, a couch or sofa, pots and pans for cooking, and a kitchen table. They also need clothing, as they were only able to bring a limited amount of their belongings. The family's sizes are as follows:

• Mother wears a size 14 in pants, a large in women's tops, and 8.5 in women’s shoes.
• Daughter wears a size 6/7 in junior pants, medium in women's tops, and size 9 in women’s shoes.
• Youngest daughter wears a size 8T (children’s) in tops and bottoms, and size 1-2 in children's shoes. This support would help this family finally move past their difficult circumstances and transform their new apartment into a true home.
