This is a single Mom of 2 students here at Cape Public Schools. The students are in 1st and 3rd grade in our district. Mom works, but stated she need extra help this mont with paying her rent due to unexpected emergencies. Mom's rent is $700 and she is able to pay $300 of it. She needs assistance w/ the $400. This mother has never asked anything from our district. This is the first time and she appeared to be ashamed, but needs help. I would love for someone to assist w/ the $400, but most of all make a connection w/ this family.

This request is for a family that has been displaced from their home. The mother just gave birth to a baby who is staying with her at a local maternity home. Her other two children are currently placed with their grandparents. Father is incarcerated, but will hopefully be released very soon. The family had to leave their home and was able to secure a storage unit for their furniture and belongings. They paid for 3 months of the storage unit up front. Now, mother has had a new baby and father is incarcerated. They cannot afford to pay the storage unit fees and are at risk of losing all of their household belongings for themselves and their children. Mother has plans to begin working within the next few weeks when released by her physician. Father plans to begin working again when he is released from jail. They plan to be able to pay the fees on the storage unit again very soon and to, hopefully, secure a home for their family. Right now they need $200 for their April fees, which are past due. Mother already made arrangements to get the payment date extended until this weekend, 5/10/2025, and was able to get the $25 late fee waived due to her just having a baby. It would be most helpful if the family could get their May storage fees covered as well to give them time to get to work and get a couple of paychecks so they can pay it themselves moving forward.

A mom and her infant live in their own apartment through a housing assistance program. Mom currently attends outpatient treatment regularly and is working on finding employment. She is in need of a washer and dryer. Having these things would greatly improve her life as she will not have to try to figure out a way to get a ride to the laundry mat or have the money to wash her clothes. Mom is very quiet and reserved but is so thankful for anything she receives.

A mom of two is currently residing in a domestic violence shelter. Her two children (boy age 5, girl age 7) were removed from her before entering shelter. Since then, mom has completed inpatient treatment and remains actively engaged in outpatient. She is also active in counseling, treatment court, and works full-time. She has increased her visits to unsupervised overnights and was recently able to secure a rental unit. She is in need of the following: couch, side tables, tv stand, washer and dryer, dining room table and chairs.

She is unable to move in until she gets beds for her and her children so that she can continue overnight visits that will eventually lead to them being returned to her custody. She is in need of 2 twin mattresses with the frames, 1 queen mattress with the frame, and dressers for each.

A family has a sweet, growing baby boy. He is in need of a new car seat as he has outgrown his current car seat. A properly fitting car seat will ensure his safety and comfort as he travels with his current placement. The sweet baby boy is about 30 pounds. We truly appreciate your help as this baby boy grows with this family. Thank you!

Placement is in need of a bunk bed and a dresser as they took in their niece.

A foster placement is in need of help with gas as they have to bring a youth from Dexter to Cape for intensive therapy. Just need help until foster mom gets paid.

Family foster placement is working on their licensing and needing to place the female children in one bedroom. This family is in need of bunkbeds to help facilitate the licensing process. This is a single foster mom with limited income attempting to raise her own children along with her foster niece on a limited income budget. They will need the bunkbed and mattresses and bedding would be helpful.

I have a hard working single mother that has gained a home of her own and is working hard to furnish it. She has accomplished so much fairly quickly in our Family Centered Services case and maintains contact almost daily with her case worker. The mother has sought out other community resources before asking for help. The mother is slowly but surely furnishing her home and we are hoping to help her obtain a washer and dryer. If you are able to help in anyway with this request it is truly appreciated. The mother has also asked about a resource that provides dressers. The new home does not have much closet space for her and the children. CD will continue reaching out to resources and will update this request if one is found.

I have a mom and two children who need assistance with the deposit on their new home. Mom left an abusive relationship recently and has been working with Safe House and other area agencies to place the family in a safe home. Mom has rent taken care of but is short on the deposit. The deposit is $775, however, since she is working, she will have $175 of it next week. Leaving her with $600 to pay. Mom has already utilized her income tax money to buy a car for them.
