A dedicated single mother of three children is doing her best to balance work and her health in the midst of job searching. Any assistance would be incredibly helpful, as it would ease her daily burden. The energy bill came higher than she expected. The school community closet Warrior Closet gives every kid who visits for back-to-school backpack and school clothes shopping a brand new pair of shoes to start school in. We are preparing for our August 5th opening back. We had 99 kids come through last year for the three-day 6hrs of events. I like to put this out early so people contributing can keep an eye on the sales and when, especially Famous footwear and or Rackroom, do buy one get one 1/2 off bogos on shoes and backpacks. They also put a lot of shoes on clearance that you can buy with the BOGOs too. The kids 11 through size 1 love the character shoes. The 2 and or above ones I would do something they can wear more with everything.

Three siblings currently residing with their grandmother in St. Joseph are in urgent need of support. The family requires two twin-size mattresses to replace those that were infested with bed bugs, as well as three pillows—one for each child. Providing these items will help preserve the current kinship placement and ensure that the siblings can remain together in a safe and stable environment. The Missouri ICPC has requested additional services for this family, and we want to ensure they are fully prepared for the upcoming DSS visit scheduled for May 14th.

Family is new to the KC area and speaks Hatian Creole. Family speaks limited English and has a limited support system. They have a disconnect notice for their electricity. I have called several agencies about getting assistance and cannot find one that has funds available until next month but I didn't want their electricity to get shut off in the mean time.

This request is to help a single mother and her elementary student furnish their new apartment. The family arrived in the United States one year ago and were residing with extended family in a 2-bedroom apartment. Due to domestic violence, the family left and through the support of CarePortal, were able to secure their own apartment. The family does not have the financial means to furnish their new space. The family does not have living room furniture such as a couch or chairs. A staff member at the student's school has offered to donate those items, however we do not currently have a way to transport them to the family. The family also is in need of kitchen utensils and cookware, plates, bowls, and cups, two dressers, kitchen chairs, and cleaning supplies. They currently do not own any cleaning items to be able to use.

I am working with a young family due with a baby in August. They are currently living with dad's family in an attic space. Dad has been looking for a job and mom has applied for disability income. Until they have income, they are unable to move out of the attic space. In order to make the space safe for baby to come home, they need a few items. I am requesting a window AC unit, a box fan, and a small dresser for storing baby's items.

A family is in need of help to ensure the child can remain in kinship care; a 5-pound fire extinguisher is needed for safety compliance in the home.

A grandparent is experiencing a hardship and is needing help upgrading the child's bed from a toddler bed to a twin bed as they have become to tall and old for the toddler bed.

We are requesting your amazing support with a wide baby/toddler gate. The doorway is 3'2' wide, and it would need to be a tall one. The sassy twins on this need, have crawled over the one they had multiple times and unfortunately led to unwanted incidents. Our intention is to keep these beautiful twins safe and away from dangerous situations. Please consider helping us out as we navigate the social work aspect of this case. We have a 20-year-old who is aging out of care in a month. She is moving into her apartment with her 1-year-old daughter. She is working and has been trying to save money. She is $500 short for the deposit on her apartment; she has managed to save half. The $500 would ensure our older youth does not age out unhoused. She is utilizing a housing voucher to ensure she will be able to pay her rent; her voucher does not pay for any part of the deposit. Our youth is excited to have her own place for her and her daughter to finally have stability in her life. Thank you!
