Child was being abused by father in home. Child lost his Mother in 2017 to traumatic events. Father has not allowed child to visit his Mother's family. Grandmother has filed for custody every year, and was granted custody yesterday. Father will not give any clothing for the child, and Maternal grandmother is retired and on a fixed income. Any assistance with getting a gift card for clothing and essentials are being requested. Child only has the clotting he was wearing. Thanks so much

Mom lost her job in early November due to kids illnesses, she got a new job later in November but lost that job also due to kids illnesses. She has struggled to make car, electric, and rent payments since losing her job. She has been delivering with DoorDash to obtain income. She is overdue on her car payments for the month of April and May and she needs her car to continue to DoorDash until she obtains another job. The lender reached out to her because the payments were due on May 23rd. She has reached out to friends, family, and other agencies and has received some support for her other needs, but still cannot make the car payment. She is in need of $792.00 for her car payment. She is working with a Career Navigator at Virginia Career Works and plans to complete CNA training this summer so she can obtain self-sufficient employment, but she needs transportation to be able to accomplish this goal.

A mother and her child are currently struggling financially due to the father, who was the main source of income, abruptly leaving the home and not providing assistance. The mother is a small business owner and does not make enough to meet the day-to-day needs of her and her child and does not know how she is going to be able to make ends meet. The family is also struggling with the mental strain of no longer having the father present on top of the financial burden now placed solely on the mother, and so we would like to ease the burden a bit by helping them in the form of gift cards for gas and groceries.

The child was recently placed with her grandmother. The grandmother works for the schools, but has no extra income for another person and no income in the summer besides what she has set aside for bills. She would like help getting the child basic needs like toiletries, pads/tampons, clothing, etc

The Lynchburg Department of Social Services is requesting rental assistance on behalf of a single mother of four children who recently relocated to a new apartment in an effort to provide a safer and more suitable living environment for her family. Her previous residence was inadequate and did not meet the basic needs of her children. This move was essential for the well-being and stability of the household. However, the financial burden of securing and maintaining this new apartment has created a significant challenge. Rental assistance would provide critical support in helping her sustain this improved living situation and continue working toward long-term stability for her family while she is looking for work

Two children are in Roanoke City DSS custody, and their parents are working toward getting them back by attending weekly visitation. They are also attending weekly parenting classes, per the department's request, but they do not have their own form of transportation. I am seeking two bus passes to help them with transportation to and from these events.

Two children ages 8 and 9 have separated parents and travel between homes. The children currently sleep on air mattresses at their father's home. The father would like to have two twin beds for the children as permanent beds for the children. Asking for both beds in this request. If you can only provide one, please let me know! :)

A single mother is currently raising her three children and they need to move into a new house. The house that they are currently living in is infested with rats and the exterminator hired by the landlord was not able to resolve the rat issue. For the sake of their well-being, it is important that they move to a new home, but they need help with paying the security deposit. They qualify for Section 8 Housing assistance but the security deposit is not covered by the voucher. The security deposit is estimated to range from $1600-$1700.

Often times the nurse/clinic in each school is one of the first stops for when a student presents with lice. They often provide educational information to staff and families to resolve lice issues or when necessary will refer to school social worker to follow up with families. It is very helpful for nurses to have at least a few lice kits available to use when needed for these children especially when there are situations that arise where a family do not have the funds for a kit. Our elementary schools usually encounter lice situations the most. These kits are not presently funded by the school system. Due to this I am requesting kits to be donated to the schools. The school year is wrapping up, but this will be helpful to have on hand in preparation for the new school year to begin.

Hello, looking for assistance with family that needs a new pack n play/crib for a 2-year-old toddler, and a bunk bed and twin mattresses for a 15-yr old and 7-yr-old. Not urgent needs for the family the older children sleep in the same bed currently, and the toddler has a broken crib, but this would help assist a family who has financial and transportation issues (they have no car).

A single mother is working towards reunification with her two toddlers. Her front door and her chain-link gate are having issues opening and closing which is causing safety concerns for her. She needs a front door and gate that can open and close easily whether it's maintenance on the door or a different door. This will increase the safety of her home for her and her children.
