m, 14 yr old, only has a pair of slides for shoes that she is wearing with socks in this cold weather. She also has no winter coat and is only wearing a light jacket in this cold cold weather. Her shoes size 8 and a winter coat size 2XL. She does not have a permanent placement at this time.
DCCCA is serving a hard-working single father who goes to work Monday through Friday, 8 am to 3 pm, while also attending barber college Monday through Thursday, 5 pm to 10 pm. He currently does not have his own source of transportation and has been relying on the availability of his family and friends to get him to work and class but has missed multiple days due to his support system not being available. This donation would mean so much to the family because he would be able to continue to seek his education and employment which has been what empowers him to be a successful father.
This request is for Mother and her three daughters (age 1), (age 3), and (age 7). The family is in need of bedding (sheets and blankets) for their bunks beds the children sleep in. Two twin sized beds and two full sized beds. The family also requested help with clothing items (sizes 6/7 girls, 2T/3T girls, and 24 months girls). CPS worker did provide some options for clothing drives in town - but if there are more resources to pass along to the family that would be appreciated. All of these items would aid in creating a more functional and appropriate space for the children.
S is raising her three grandchildren N (F, 11), D (M, 4), and S (F, 3). S owns a small catering business to help provide for the children. Recently right before Thanksgiving her car caught fire and was destroyed. Thankfully no one was harmed but liability insurance does not cover this type of total so she is left without a vehicle.
Right now S is riding the bus to make small catering order deliveries, but this is not going to work long-term. S has a neighbor who is willing to sell her a used car for $2,500, but she would also accept anything that was donated.
Having a car will allow S to continue to bring money in and provide for her three grandchildren, while also being able to get them to school and all necessary appointments. With the weather about to get cold and bad, S fears that she will not be able to continue her catering business without a car because she can only take small orders on the bus due to the logistics of storing/transporting the food on and off each bus/route change.
Mom and her three boys, ages 14, 12, and 1-year-old are working with our amazing Family Preservation Program. Unfortunately, someone broke into their home and smashed a window and glass on their door. We want this family to feel safe and warm. Mom is doing the best she can and does not have the extra funds to fix the glass. Can someone either please donate their skills and replace the glass in the door and window or donate the finances to have a handyman complete this? We are so grateful for our amazing CarePortal Churches and how much you care about families in our community. Thank you for anything that you can do in order to help this family.
DCCCA is hosting a Christmas Party Dec 7th for all of our foster families and families receiving services from our Family Preservation program. We know the holidays can be a difficult time for families in our services so we try to go above and beyond to plan a special evening for them that encourages family bonding while embracing the holiday spirit. DCCCA is providing a meal for everyone in attendance but we are in need of a donor that can help us purchase decorations, supplies and dessert for the party. Any assistance for this would be greatly appreciated!
Family Preservation is currently serving a single mother of two children who are homeless and living in a hotel on Broadway. The mother has had a difficult time finding appropriate housing because her 1 year old is medically fragile and the home must be extremely sanitized for her safety. This child was born deaf and blind and has numerous medical appointments that has made it impossible for mom to keep a consistent job that will accommodate her families needs. DCCCA is helping mom get disability for her daughter to gain financial stability. DCCCA has also helped mom find an appropriate apartment and has paid the application costs. Mom will be receiving section 8 to cover rent but needs assistance with the move in costs. If a church would also be willing to provide on going relational support and encouragement to this family that would be a major blessing as she does not have a strong support system besides her case team at DCCCA. Please help us support this mom and thank you for taking the time to read this post.
Household of 8, one parent and 7 children. The kids range from 4 to 12 years old. The family currently only has one full sized bed in their residence and is in need of additional beds for the children as they are sleeping on the couch or on the floor currently. There are seven children so any combination of beds, preferably two bunk beds and a full or queen mattress would ensure that all the kids have an appropriate place to sleep. The family is also in need of bedding (sheets and blankets) for the requested beds and a dining room table if possible. Right now there is very little furniture in the home. All of these items would aid in creating a more functional and appropriate space for the children.
Churches and businesses throughout Wichita are hosting Hope and a Future: A Foster Care Christmas Celebration at the Wichita Sports Forum on December 13th. All registered foster and adopted kids will receive gifts and pajamas at the event. There are estimated to be over 600 kids at this event! Foster ICT is still looking for help supplying pajamas and a gift for several kids. The cost of each gift/pajama set is $50. Please consider sponsoring a couple of children today and make this a Christmas to remember!
The Wichita Office would like to be able to give children and teens a $20 gift card to Walmart or another store for Christmas. The staff believes that the children/teens would love to be able to pick out something for themselves for Christmas. Can you please help us be able to give them a gift for Christmas? Thank you for anything that you can do. We appreciate all of our CarePortal Churches and what a huge impact you make on our staff and foster children/families. You are amazing!

DCCCA is serving a single mother of 6 children. She recently separated from her husband who was the financial provider of the household but is working to establish everything on her own. She has started the process of vocational rehab with DCF to help her gain employment but has not yet started. She has been searching for employment for the last 2 months but has not had luck and because of this she is behind on her rent. She has just notified her case manager that the family will be evicted tomorrow if their balance is not paid. Mom only has $100. DCCCA cannot cover the entire amount owed and is hoping to collaborate with churches that would be willing to help us prevent this family from being evicted from their new home and being separated. Please do not feel obligated to contribute the entire amount, any help would be a blessing.
We have a mom who is in need of some help coming up with the deposit to move into her apartment. She has been working so hard over the past several months to regain her sobriety, and she just graduated her treatment program!! She has now found an apartment that she hopes to move into before her baby is born in just a couple of months. However, she recently had to pay for an attorney regarding a domestic violence case. Thankfully, she was successful in court, and she is now safe. Due to the expenses of her attorney, she only has enough funds to pay for either the deposit or the first month's rent for new apartment. Any amount would be greatly appreciated as she works toward her goal of moving into this apartment!
When little children come into care, they almost always do not have any diapers with them and they need to be changed. We like to have diapers in the office so we can take care of one of the most essential needs for the baby, to be changed and cleaned. Children's skin is so sensitive and we want to take the very best care of them and give them everything that they need. Can you please help us get some much-needed diapers? Thank you for anything that you can help with. We are so grateful for your help.
Special Instructions:
The office is still in need of premature diaper size if anyone can please provide this, they would be so grateful.
Foster mom is caring for 9 kids total (some bio, some she's a kinship placement for). She is also taking care of her mother who recently had a stroke. This family's most recent home had a major mold issue, forcing them to move as well as get rid of many of their belongings. They could use help re-stocking home items, specifically kitchen gear, linens, bunkbed frames, and bedding.
Bekah:
Orchard's team can get the bedding for this family.
