June is National Reintegration Month! The Saint Francis Ministries team in Newton is hoping to celebrate reintegration month with a fun park event in Newton on Saturday 6/21/2025 from 2-4pm. Our theme is “The Future is so Bright, We Have to Wear Shades!” At this time, we are not sure exactly how many families will be in attendance, but we are hoping to have 5 families in attendance, with some families bringing multiple children.

Requests:

Cookies - We would love to have 3 dozen cookies for the event. These can be homemade, or purchased. We would LOVE for them to have a sun or sunglasses on them to go with the “Future is Bright” Theme!

Gift cards – 8-10 gift cards to include in gift baskets for the families for family fun! - $25ea– would love for this to be for a local (to Newton) activity, or WalMart for families to be able to purchase swimming gear, or other items for their kids.

Bouncy House – Payment for a rental for a bouncy house we would like to set up at the park (or lending one if you happen to have one or have connection to one!)

We are requesting support for a resilient young woman living in an independent living placement who is preparing to travel to college this summer. She is in need of new tires for her vehicle—a Hyundai Sonata with 17-inch tires—to ensure she can make the trip safely and continue pursuing her education.This youth has worked incredibly hard to overcome many obstacles and is actively defying the odds often faced by young adults aging out of foster care. She has demonstrated determination, responsibility, and perseverance in reaching her academic goals. Replacing her worn tires will not only support her safety but also affirm her hard work and encourage her continued success.Having reliable transportation is critical as she prepares to begin this next chapter by July 8th. Your support in helping meet this practical need will have a lasting impact on her journey toward independence and a brighter future.

We are seeking help for a loving grandmother of six who needs an old, broken refrigerator removed from her home. Her family has done intensive case management to support her, but this task requires more hands and resources than they have. She is unable to move it herself due to health and mobility issues. Any assistance with removal and proper disposal would be deeply appreciated and make a big difference in her daily life.

This sweet mom has had a rough time with housing recently. Her landlord gave her very short notice regarding renovations coming to her rental that they would need to move out for, so she has been hustling to find a new home for herself and her children that fits within her budget. She finally found one that she can move into next week, but she is struggling to come up with the security deposit. Any small amount would be a great help to this family!

On 05/27/2025 mom identified needing urgent help with electric bill as electric is about to be shut off. There are four children in the home ranges ages 9 months, 6yo, 9yo & 15yo. MO has recently been approved for Section 8 housing and is actively searching for housing as the family is currently living in a very small 2 bedroom apartment. MO also reported needing assistance for clothes for the CH and food. (CPS gave MO resources- United Way One Page)

A widow of two children, who has a full time job, got behind on bills and rent when her company went on strike a few months ago. Jesus emphasized the importance of caring for widows and young children in need. Would you be willing to help this mom get back on her feet?

This grandmother has finally gained custody of all five of her grandchildren. She is so happy to have them all in her home. She is just needing a bit of help with finding enough clothing for some of them. Her two grandsons are in size 5/6 and her two granddaughters are in size 12 month. Her boys are also in need of shoes, sized 10 1/2. Gently used clothes would be much appreciated!

B is an expecting mother. She is 18 years old pregnant with her first child. She is almost 37 weeks. She has worked hard to obtain all items needed for her unborn son. She tried to purchase a car seat off of market place but one she got home she noticed that there were no straps included with the car seat, the person would not answer her calls or return her money. She has tried several places to get the car seat and has not had any luck with them. Because she is so close to delivery, she is in need of a car seat with straps to safely bring her child home. She is also in need of receiving blankets. She has heavy blankets but would like a few lighter blankets.

Hey CarePortal family, this is another much needed request for this mom and family. After being homeless for 2 years, mom has found a safe and affordable place to reside however, there isn't a refrigerator. Another household item that she needs is a bed. Mom is trying to create a safe and loving environment for her and her family and we are asking for any help with these two items.

Family is moving into permanent housing and needing some basic furniture. Family is asking for a washer and dryer set, dressers, curtains, and bath accessories (rugs, shower curtains) and sheets for a queen and two full size mattresses.
