Hands of Hope

Child was recently placed in a kinship placement. Child is in need of a dresser and bedding to support her ability to remain in the home and have her needs met. Child would use the dresser for clothes that are unable to be hung. Child is a teenage female and does not have a particular style, just something that is age appropriate.

This family consists of mom, dad/step-dad, and four young children (4 and under). This family has been living in a hotel for the last almost 8 months and have just obtained their own housing. Because of this they are in need of items to begin this next chapter and ensure their family have the necessities for being in their own home. Needed items include, baby gates to ensure children's safety, living room items (couch, end tables, lamps), kitchen items (dishes), and bathroom items (towel/wash cloths).

A 14 year old boy is placed with his single aunt and her children. She lives on a limited income and is pursuing guardianship. The child has grown out of many of his clothes and is in need of some new clothing. He has very few clothes appropriate for the summer weather.

The children have been removed from the home. Their father is struggling finically as he looks for a new job. Without a gas card, he is struggling to make it to visits in Marion as he has been staying with friends that live 1.5+ away to have a place to sleep at night. The girls love their father and have been suffering strong negative emotions when they are unable to see him.

The children were removed from the home and placed in Cass County and White County. Their mother is struggling financially, so it is difficult for her to be able to make it to visits due to the family's lack of money for gas. They have visits twice a week to ensure the children are able to see their mother on a regular basis.

The family just relocated from Huntington County to Wabash County while engaging with the Department. The mother has communicated that she and her two children will be residing in the upstairs of a family member's home. It was communicated that she and the children would benefit from fire safety items to ensure the safety of the children in the new residences.

5 year old girl is placed in foster care with family friends. They are in need of a car seat; they have been borrowing the départements at this time. She needs a five-point harness ASAP.

Our agency is working with a single mother of four who is facing eviction and risks being displaced. She works and goes to school while providing for her children. She lost her job a few months ago which caused her to get behind on rent. She found a new job shortly after but didn't receive her 1st check for a few weeks and wasn't a full check. She is now receiving full checks with her new job and is able to cover her monthly expenses but she's playing catch up. Mom is taking summer courses trying to improve her future so she can be more stable for her family. Mom needs assistance catching up with rent then she'll be able to maintain expenses with her new job. We also referred mom to seek assistance through PRC so even help with half or a portion would be very helpful.

This home includes a mom, dad, and two children. This family has worked tirelessly to reunify with their children. The family recently moved into their home and the last thing they need to reunify is a twin bed, bedroom, and bedding for their child. Their child is 3 years old and so excited for this next step.

Mother needs assistance with food for herself and her children. She does work full time and is able to maintain her home but needs assistance with groceries.

DCS is requesting financial assistance for three teenagers to go to church camp. During the time that DCS has been involved, the teenagers have mentioned church camp multiple times to the ongoing worker. At the last home visit, one of the teenagers mentioned that they did not know if they would get to go to camp because of money. After talking to the teenagers’ father, the ongoing worker realized that there is a financial strain on the family since the father is switching jobs. The father’s new job starts next week. Their church has helped pay for most of the camp costs; however, the father still needs to come up with a $50 deposit for each of the children. DCS and the family have been working together to build a more supportive and effective household. The family has been relying on their church as support for them throughout the past few months. All of the children really enjoy going to youth group and attending church on Sundays as they are able. One of the teenagers sees this week of church camp as an opportunity for them to have some independence along with having a fun week at camp. DCS has been working to build an effective and supportive home environment. DCS believes that the children going to church camp will be beneficial for all of the children and for their father so that they can come back into the household with a refreshed mindset.

Requesting assistance with providing a crib frame and crib mattress for a 19 day old female infant placed with her grandparents. Fulfilling this need will help to maintain this child in relative placement.
