The family is composed of a mother and child (11mo). The mother was living with the father but due to a recent domestic violence incident, the mother relocated to the maternal grandfather’s home. The mother is currently unemployed and relying on government assistance as a source of income.

The 11-month-old child is currently co-sleeping in the same bed as the mother. The mother requested assistance in obtaining a crib and a mattress for the baby since at this time the mother cannot afford to buy one. If the crib and the mattress are provided to the family, it would ensure a safe sleep environment for the child and it would reduce the risk of SIDS.

The family came to the attention of DCFS due to mother giving birth and as she arrived at Hospital the baby hit his head on the concrete and was unresponsive. Baby has made progress but parents have 4 other children who were also removed due to substance concerns. They are all placed with grandparents. The parents live in Pomona and are trying to reunify with the children. However, they have a 2011 Chevy Tahoe that needs repairs. The car needs - engine mount $211, Radiator $313.99, and Transmission Flywheel $155.99. (AutoZone prices) Father reported that he and his father are able to do the repairs but are unable to buy the parts. Only mother is employed , as father reports being undocumented/ and having an accident 2 years ago, is not able to work. Mother has completed 52 weeks parenting and DV program. Father is enrolled in his programs substance abuse, anger mgmt, therapy and parenting. They visit the children consistently in Norwalk but having reliable transportation would support them in their reunification process with visits and attending testing's and court ordered programs. This family would greatly appreciated any financial assistance given for their car repair needs even if it is some of the expenses for the car parts.

I am working with a young mother who is in need of some support. She is currently enrolled in a continuation program and is on track to graduate next year. At this time, she is in need of a crib mattress and crib sheets for her baby. DCFS has not yet begun providing financial assistance, and the client remains on maternity leave without current employment. Meeting this need would help ease her stress and provide one less thing for her to worry about during this transitional period.

Options for Women, Help for Families has a couple working on reunification with their child. They have both completed our DFS parenting classes and enrolled in our regular parenting classes now. They get weekend visits with their 6month old daughter. They were able to save the money for an apartment, deposit and utilities but encountered car repairs and depleted the rest of their funds that were to be used to purchase a stove and refrigerator. They are in great need for an electric stove and a refrigerator. They would be very appreciative if anyone has used ones they would like to donate. Thank you for your consideration. The dad was actually a non-believer when he first came to us and has accepted Christ through the devotions and mentorship he received!

Mom of 2 lost her 18 year old son to homicide on 5/22/24. Mom has a full time job however due to the circumstances, has been out of work since the incident. Mom is prioritizing putting her son to rest and is currently paying for the funeral which is close to $8,000. Mom is concerned she will get behind on rent due to the funeral costs and being out of work. Currently KCMO does not have organizations that assist with funeral funds, so it will be out of pocket for her. Mom is seeking rental assistance for the month of June. Her current rent amount is $ to go towards her rent payment, would be greatly appreciated.

This family was recently impacted by a natural disaster and has been staying at different family member's homes. They are finally able to move to a new home, but one child is medically complex and needing a large suitcase to take all his belongings and medical equipment with him on the move, as the family will travel by public transportation.

We are working with a mom that unfortunately lost her job. She has possible leads on a new position with the company. She had enough money to pay ahead her rent for a month but that set her back in paying her utility bill. The bill is due 6/1/25. Having this bill covered would alleviate the stress and help the mom focus on gaining employment to move forward for her family. There are currently 4 youth in this household.

A blended family with five children between the ages of one and seven, and one child due to arrive in mid-June. The family needs an infant car seat carrier base. They have the Infant seat; they need a base. The brand is Evenflo Litemax 30 Infant Car Seat Base. The family would be extremely appreciative of any assistance with this issue.

Natural mother is working to improve her home for the safety of her four children. After years of drug use, the natural mother is clean and in rehab and is working to reintegrate with her children. Given the extensive amount of drug use that occurred in the home, the mother is redoing the house to make sure her children are safe. The mother has finished redoing her floors and has gotten rid of all of the furniture. This mom is requesting assistance with getting new living room furniture, specifically couches or a living room chair. Once the mother has finished cleaning the home and replacing the furniture, she will be able to have visitation in her home in hopes to return her children to her care.

On 05/27/2025 mom identified needing urgent help with electric bill as electric is about to be shut off. There are four children in the home ranges ages 9 months, 6yo, 9yo & 15yo. MO has recently been approved for Section 8 housing and is actively searching for housing as the family is currently living in a very small 2 bedroom apartment. MO also reported needing assistance for clothes for the CH and food. (CPS gave MO resources- United Way One Page)

Youth is having surgery soon, he has a cist on his backside and he will down for 6 to 8 weeks. He would like to take two summer classes to get a jump start on next year and these classes will prepare him for honors history next year and give him something to do during the summer when he is recovering from surgery. The classes cost $180 a piece and need to be paid by 3pm tomorrow for him to take the classes. They can be paid by phone but the relative placement needs assistance in paying for these classes. If funds are not received by 3pm tomorrow he cannot take the classes.

A woman in our program is in need of groceries for the month. While she has food stamps, there are still some essentials she isn't able to purchase. A Walmart gift card would help fill in that gap and ensure she has the food she needs to sustain herself. Your support in providing this gift card would make a huge difference in her ability to meet her basic needs this month.
