I have a child that I placed in a kinship home yesterday 2/19/25. The child has a car seat but the child's car seat is not fitting him correctly. The aunt and uncle expressed wanting to get another car seat and asked if there are any resources to help get their 3 almost 4 year old nephew a car seat. The child is in need of just one car seat. The child is placed locally near Warsaw, IN. DCS is wanting to help assist getting a car seat to preserve the placement.

Hi - Following up on earlier comments - it's the Lutheran EMS that will provide them, sometimes for a nominal cost ($20). Also, it seems the needs has already been met but please know Lutheran EMS will also inspect to confirm the car seat is secured properly and in this case given the child's size/age they will also help confirm they are in the correct size of car seats.

I know that fire stations will often give infant car seats away to people in need. Do they have free car seats for older kids?

Stabilize Housing Insecurity

We want to take a moment to celebrate the growth of Sherry, Cameron, Kaya, and Kennedy over the past 8 months, made possible by your generous support. Cameron was juggling two part-time jobs and feeling uncertain about his future. He secured a full-time job at an extermination company and gained confidence and developed new skills. Kaya was a college freshman working at a sandwich shop. Since then, she started a new job at the YMCA in after-school childcare that has brought her joy in student teaching and she bought a car. Kennedy was a high school junior working at a sandwich shop; she has enjoyed school events like homecoming and winter formal. Staying in their home this last year allowed her to complete her childhood there and graduate high school. Sherry was facing financial stress, managing transportation for the kids with only one car. Over the last several months, she took a temporary job but as of recent she now offers in home care to another senior for a few days a week. Most importantly, thanks to you, she has had the time to guide and prepare her grandkids for their next big step in life. Their next big step has arrived, their home of 13 years is being sold, and they must move out by June 31st. We are seeking families or a senior with a spare bedroom(s) who can help them stay in the community. If you know of any housing opportunities for Sherry or the kids, please reach out. This request is for a 16 year old boy who is currently living in a independent living place where he is currently learning skills to be able to take care of himself once he ages out of foster care. This child is a very soft spoken well mannered young man who takes directions very easily never ask for anything and always has a smile on his face. This child who has been in foster care since he was 10 years old works very hard in school and makes A's and B's. He participates in extracurricular sports activities such as football and concert choir. The child stated that he is going to need a suit for his concert choir this coming school year but also would like to have one for his prom. The child also stated that he would need new football cleats as he believes that he has grown out of the ones that he has. This request is to buy the child a new suit for both prom and concert choir and if there's enough a new pair of cleats. There is not a child that deserves it more as he works hard and accomplishes so much as a young man and does not let his situation define who he is.
