Story
Children, 10 and 12 years old were removed from parents' care a few months ago due to neglectful supervision. The children had been living with parents on and off in hotels, homeless shelters, and never really had a stable home environment. When the children first came into care, there were no foster homes available for the children, so they were placed in an emergency shelter for almost two months until a foster home was found. When the children were placed in the foster home, the children struggled to adjust to living in their foster home and begged to be taken to a familiar shelter, Loaves and Fishes, where they had previously stayed with their parents. The Department has since then been able to approve maternal grandmother's home as a placement for the children and the children have now settled into the home with their grandmother. The children have been enrolled in school and also require regular visit to their doctor and therapy due to their medical diagnosis; however, grandmother is struggling because her vehicle is needing repairs. The Department is asking for monetary assistance for grandmother to have her truck fixed so that she may be able to transport the children to all of their appointments and to school. Any help would be greatly appreciated so that we can preserve this placement with the grandmother.
