This is a request for assistance with clothing and toiletry items for a 13-year-old boy in DHS custody. He was placed into a foster home with his sibling a few days ago after disrupting placement from a shelter and going awol. He has been in DHS custody for 6 months and is 1 of 4 siblings who is struggling the most behaviorally and emotionally. Foster mom for one of the siblings graciously accepted placement of him and she is working to help stabilize him so that he can have a chance to live in a home setting (vs bouncing from shelter to shelter). CASA has observed he is in need of clothing. Shoes men size 8, shirts 16-18 or men xs / joggers/ pants 14-16. He could also use some extra toiletry items such as deodorant, shampoo. We are requesting new or gently used clothing items, or a visa gift. In the event a gift card is donated, CASA will ensure kiddo has the opportunity to pick out his own things. Please pray for this young man as he has experienced significant trauma, was removed from a home with parents who struggle with substance use and mental health. Reunification appears to be poor prognosis currently. If we can help alleviate some of the financial burden from foster mom who has agreed to accept a sibling and help replenish this young man's wardrobe, we believe the family overall wellbeing will greatly improve, and it will lift his spirits and his self-worth. Two children ages 7 and 16 were placed with a kin-like provider. The kinship provider also has four of their own children. The kinship provider is on a single-income and is struggling financially so, they are not able to purchase groceries for the household. A hardworking single mother of two young boys (ages 1 and 2) is facing a financial hurdle as she moves into a new apartment. After overcoming significant challenges, she successfully reunified with her children in the summer of 2024 and has been working full-time to provide for them. She has also maintained her sobriety for over 4 years now! Not only is she working full-time to provide, but she is working as an advocate who partners with parents who currently have children in the foster care system. Now, as her previous lease has expired, she must pay a down payment, first month's rent, and a deposit all at once to secure stable housing.

She has saved $300 toward these costs but still needs $900 to ensure her family has a safe place to live. If she is unable to pull together this payment, she is at risk of becoming homeless when her current lease expires in the next two weeks. Our foster family of 7 with a baby on the way is in need of a meal train the week their baby is born (due date is May 3rd). We're hoping to have 5+ people sign up to each bring a large meal (10 servings) the week the baby is born. This will make a tremendous difference for this family as they transition into life with a newborn.
