We are reaching out to request urgent support for a single mother who recently escaped an abusive relationship, leaving her and her autistic son without stable housing. Currently, they are temporarily staying with a friend. Unfortunately, the blow-up mattress the child was using got punctured, forcing him to sleep on a pallet placed directly on a cold, hard floor. This is particularly challenging and uncomfortable for him, given his autism and need for stability and comfort.

The mother has been unable to work because she is dedicating her efforts to finding an appropriate day program that can meet her son's special needs, as he requires significant one-on-one care and support.

We kindly ask for assistance in providing a suitable bed or mattress for her son. Meeting this need will greatly enhance his comfort and well-being during this difficult transitional period and help alleviate some of the emotional stress on both mother and child. Your support will make a profound difference, offering them a sense of security, warmth, and dignity as they begin rebuilding their lives.

We want to take a moment to celebrate the growth of Sherry, Cameron, Kaya, and Kennedy over the past 8 months, made possible by your generous support. Cameron was juggling two part-time jobs and feeling uncertain about his future. He secured a full-time job at an extermination company and gained confidence and developed new skills. Kaya was a college freshman working at a sandwich shop. Since then, she started a new job at the YMCA in after-school childcare that has brought her joy in student teaching and she bought a car. Kennedy was a high school junior working at a sandwich shop; she has enjoyed school events like homecoming and winter formal. Staying in their home this last year allowed her to complete her childhood there and graduate high school. Sherry was facing financial stress, managing transportation for the kids with only one car. Over the last several months, she took a temporary job but as of recent she now offers in home care to another senior for a few days a week. Most importantly, thanks to you, she has had the time to guide and prepare her grandkids for their next big step in life. Their next big step has arrived, their home of 13 years is being sold, and they must move out by June 31st.
