This request is for an elementary student at Holland West Elementary, and his family. Mom reached out to the school social worker stating that she needs assistance paying her electricity bill. Mom states that they owe $550 on their electric bill and it is due tomorrow (Tuesday, April 15). Mom states that she would have requested help sooner, but she thought she was going to be able to figure it out. Mom reports that she has a source of income, but does not get paid until after the shut-off date.

Mom is a single mother, and got behind on her bill because she was not working enough for a period of time. She has now increased her hours to be able to stay current, but needs the help to get caught back up. I have verified the amount due and proof of income from mom.

I'm reaching out on behalf of a single mother who is doing her absolute best to care for her two young sons, both diagnosed with autism (ages 3 and 6). She works full-time Monday through Friday and has therapy sessions for both boys on Saturdays, making it extremely difficult to access local food pantries, even though she was provided a list by her social worker.

The boys are very picky eaters due to their sensory needs, and mom is struggling to keep up with grocery expenses. She recently reached out for help — she was emotional and expressed that she felt embarrassed, but she truly needs support right now. She’s trying her best and doesn’t want to miss work, which would only make things harder.

I'm asking the community for help — grocery gift cards are most helpful so mom can purchase specific foods her boys will eat.

Additionally, both children are in need of new shoes and socks: 3-year-old: Shoe size 10

6-year-old: Shoe size 13/1

Mother is currently in a shelter with her 1year old son. She recently got a job at McDonalds on last week and although she has childcare the center is closed on this Friday, and they are also closed on Saturdays. Mother is needing assistance paying for a sitter for the child so that she may work. She has not received her first paycheck to be able to pay the babysitter. Mother has had to call in to work due to not having a sitter, being this is a new job she cannot afford to miss work. The sitter is a registered home day care and has agreed to assist mom however she can. Mom just needs assistance until she receives her first paycheck.

This family is in need of a bunk bed to preserve kinship placement. The lady is a grandmother of the youth and could really use help getting the bunk bed.

The referred family is requesting assistance obtaining a $100 gift card. The child is in placement and is requesting clothing items for her upcoming 18th birthday in May. The child has overcome trauma and previous struggles with her mental health. She is motivated to complete high school and transition into adulthood and the assistance will help the child stay motivated and improve the child’s confidence. She is placed with her biological mother, however in the eyes of the court, since biological mother previously lost parental rights and is now court ordered caregiver- biological mother is considered “adoptive sister.” The caregiver/Biological mother’s home is not RFA approved and as such the child does not qualify for clothing allowance. The biological mother/caregiver does not receive foster care funding or relative care funding because of her legal standing as adoptive sister. The family would be appreciative of any help and want to explore all options to make their children as comfortable as possible at home.

After surviving abuse and escaping her trafficker, this survivor has a chance to start a new life. Nine years ago, she became homeless after losing her job and being evicted with her young son. With nowhere stable to go, she sent her son to stay with a friend temporarily. During this vulnerable time, she fell into the hands of a trafficker. That same friend later convinced her to sign over guardianship of her child, which became permanent. After suffering a brutal assault at the hands of her trafficker, she was determined to break away and rebuild her life. Despite her securing employment, the cost of child support and housing costs, made reuniting with her son difficult. She entered the Orange County Rescue Mission, completed court-ordered therapy, parenting classes, and drug testing, earned her GED, and enrolled in college, all while fighting for custody for her son. Today, she has been approved for Section 8 housing and finally has a safe, stable apartment. However, before she can move in and receive custody of her son, she needs a few essential items: a refrigerator and a mattress. With your support, we can help provide these basics, and with them, restore hope, dignity, and the foundation for a fresh start for her and her son. She is working alongside other community partners, but wants to get her foster daughter the dress of her dreams and for her to get to have everything she wants at this party. We have a elderly member that has moved to Tulsa from another state. She was living with family that is also elderly and disabled. She has moved into an apartment with no furniture or supplies. We are working to assist her with getting a bed/bedding, sofa/chair, table & chairs, dishes. She is in need of items for the bathroom (towels, shower curtain, soaps). The apartment is totally unfurnished and any assistance you can provide will be a blessing to this senior member. Thank you for your assistance.

This need is for a family who has graduated from DHS. We have assisted this family about a year ago. The mother’s snap benefits were stolen and used in Pennsylvania. While she is waiting for assistance, she could use our help feeding her family (mom, dad, adult son, and baby who is 14 months old). Baby is eating finger foods and family can use items like canned goods, meat, etc.

A local mother passed away recently, and friends have taken in 4 of the seven children in the family. They are aged 6 months to 10 years old. There are many needs! The Biological dad is working to be able to have his children back in the home. In the meantime, the families are really struggling.
The young baby needs Formula—Similac Sensitive. The family has not yet been approved for any help for the children. This family already has several kids of its own and needs assistance with diapers. The older kids need clothing and a few other things. One of the older girls needs clothing in size 7/8 and size 13 kids' shoes. They also need size 5/6 pajamas and twin bed sheets.
