We are reaching out to request assistance with room decor for a child currently in foster care. This child, who is 7 years old, is incredibly friendly and energetic, always full of enthusiasm and excitement. Recently, the foster family was able to secure a new bed for the child through a Care Portal request, which has made a significant improvement in the child’s living space. However, the child has expressed a desire to personalize the room further and create a space that feels more comfortable and truly their own.

The child has requested Sonic the Hedgehog-themed window curtains and a blanket/comforter (Sonic too) t as they continue to settle into their bedroom.

After surviving abuse and escaping her trafficker, this survivor has a chance to start a new life. Nine years ago, she became homeless after losing her job and being evicted with her young son. With nowhere stable to go, she sent her son to stay with a friend temporarily. During this vulnerable time, she fell into the hands of a trafficker. That same friend later convinced her to sign over guardianship of her child, which became permanent. After suffering a brutal assault at the hands of her trafficker, she was determined to break away and rebuild her life. Despite her securing employment, the cost of child support and housing costs, made reuniting with her son difficult. She entered the Orange County Rescue Mission, completed court-ordered therapy, parenting classes, and drug testing, earned her GED, and enrolled in college, all while fighting for custody for her son. Today, she has been approved for Section 8 housing and finally secured a safe, stable apartment. However, before she can move in, she needs a few essential items: a refrigerator and a mattress. With your support, we can help provide these basics, and with them, restore hope, dignity, and the foundation for a fresh start. Once she’s settled into her new apartment, she plans to petition the court to end the guardianship and reunite with her son. Your generosity can help make this life-changing moment possible. A young mom with a disabled three year old needs a toddler mattress. They have been given a toddler frame and now need a mattress and bedding. The child is autistic and hard of hearing. Mom has been home with him so her income is limited. It is time for him to be in his own bed.

A young couple with a sixth month old child need a kitchen table and chairs. They also need a couch for their living room. As of now, they have no furniture. They have moved out of a relative's home and are trying to establish their own home. Dad has recently been employed and the deposits have eaten up their income.

One of my young children from my case load, asked me for a vanity dresser and a sofa. She needs the vanity dresser for her room because she doesn't have one, and it would allow her to get ready and do her makeup. As for the sofa, she requested it because the ones in the living room are very worn out.

A 15 year old male, that I am working with, has moved through numerous placements during the past year and a half (within the foster care system). Many of his personal items have been displaced along the way. It is apparent that not only has he lost many of his personal items, he has also begun to lose hope. He will not be reunifying with his parents, is separated from his siblings, and is currently in a group home placement. Though he has made a few bad choices along the way, he is a nice young man. He has a goal of being back with a foster family some day. During a recent team meeting, that was focused on this youth, it was disclosed that he loved to play the piano and that he had an "ear for it." He was self taught and prior to to the start of his numerous placement changes, he would invest a great deal of time playing. The group agreed that this might help him maintain his placement and focus his attention and energy on something positive. It would also be a physical item that he knew was his. When this was discussed with the youth, he lit up! Much of his day, outside of school, is spent sitting, not doing much. I am reaching out requesting a Keyboard for this youth and a pair of headphones to go with it. Hoping for something of decent quality. I will be ensuring that no matter where this youth is placed, that his keyboard will travel with him. Please see note for additional information.

JD knows of a woman who needs help with a hearing aid deductible. He tried to receive assistance through Passport but was denied through two different programs. Her deductible is $250. She lives in Pickerington and I have her name, address and phone number on hand.

A foster family recently welcomed a 3-week-old baby girl straight from the NICU into their home. She is a premie, and the family is in need of some premie-sized clothing to help care for her during this season. Their biggest need is zippered sleepers but any premie clothes would be helpful

Any donations of premie sleepers or clothing would be deeply appreciated as the family steps in to love and care for this little one!

A devoted grandmother, currently caring for her two young grandchildren (ages 7 and 6), recently had a mild stroke. She now needs to focus on getting better and has had to take time off from her hourly job. This has caused her income to drop, making it hard to cover important expenses. Any help during this tough time would really ease the financial pressure. It would help her pay for things like her mortgage,household bills, food, and grand children’s daycare. This would also give her peace of mind so she can take the time she needs to fully recover and strengthen her health.
