Story
OHS has removed a 3 month old male, due to drug exposure. The maternal grandmother opened her doors to accept placement. She is also providing care for a teenage granddaughter, who is not in custody. The grandmother has limited finances and has used community resources in Tulsa and Broken Arrow for diapers, food and clothes. Although her finances are limited, since the beginning of the placement the grandmother has managed her finances well. In the two weeks, she has had to uber three times to the hospital due to the child having withdrawals. The cost to and from the hospital is $24 each way totaling $48 each trip. After each hospital visit, she used an uber to take the infant for a follow up doctor’s appointment. This has caused financial hardship for the family. As a last resort the family has reached out to OHS for assistance with obtaining size 1 diapers for her grandson. Any assistance would be much appreciated. Without having the added expenses for the future months to come, the family will be able to afford the needs. The grandmother is now aware of how to use sooner-ride for scheduled appointments. The family and I thank you for any assistance you can provide.
