Story
We are requesting assistance in purchasing specialized shoes for a six-year-old child currently in foster care. This child was born with club feet and recently underwent surgery on her legs. She has just had her casts removed and now wears leg braces to support her healing and mobility.
Due to the braces, she requires comfortable, practical shoes that are easy for her foster parents to put on and will not hinder her recovery. She currently wears a child size 12, though a slightly larger size may be needed to accommodate her braces. She enjoys light-up shoes, but most importantly, the shoes must provide comfort, stability, and ease of use. She cannot stomp or place excessive pressure on her feet at this time.
We are seeking either: • A pair of light-up shoes suitable for braces, or • A gift card to allow the foster family to purchase appropriate footwear.
What will happen when this need is met: When this need is met, the child will have access to shoes that support her mobility, comfort, and healing. Proper footwear will help prevent further injury or discomfort as she adjusts to walking with braces. It will also make daily activities easier for both her and her foster parents, reducing stress and promoting her independence and confidence as she recovers.
