Mother of three children ages 10, 6 and 2 years old. The oldest child is in our mentorship program. Mom is an amazing parent involved with her children's academic, social and emotional well being. The oldest child has braces and their health insurance only covers a proportion of the dental services. Mom has to pay out of pocket and the medical bill is currently overdue. This 17-year-old boy has recently reunited with his mother and siblings and returned to his mother’s care. The family has not been able to secure adequate bedding for the 17 year old who is currently sleeping on a broken mattress on the floor with a blanket. We are requesting a twin-sized mattress, bed frame, bed linens, and a pillow to help this child’s adjustment go a little smoother.

I am writing to you as the Court Liaison for DeKalb DFCS on behalf of Probation Officer Williams, who is passionately advocating for a remarkable young mother in our community—a 16-year-old girl eager to change her life and build a brighter future for herself and her one-year-old son.

This young mother has made the inspiring decision to return to school and pursue her GED, overcoming the challenges of her past. To achieve her educational goals, she will need reliable transportation via MARTA three days a week to attend her classes. Her mother is lovingly stepping in to care for her grandson while she focuses on her studies, but unfortunately, her mother is currently unemployed and unable to cover the cost of MARTA fares.

In addition to her classes, this dedicated young woman visits the courthouse monthly to meet with her probation officer, who is guiding her in envisioning a hopeful path forward. To facilitate her education and potential future employment, we kindly request assistance in providing her with a monthly MARTA card.

The referred family is requesting assistance obtaining a crib, stroller, and car seat for infant granddaughter in addition to clothing, diapers, and wipes. Resource parent granddaughter was born prematurely and exposed to drugs. Her granddaughter is on oxygen and placed in a community foster home. Resource parents seek to care for their granddaughter on a permanent basis. Resource parent recently retired. She takes only public transportation. Resource parent has visits with granddaughter on Sundays at the park. Resource parent was provided with information to attend her granddaughter's medical appointments. Resource parent is pending completion of medical training. Resource parent was previously approved by RFA and is scheduled for RFA home correction action plan by 5/23/2025. Resource Parent is in critical and urgent need of a crib, stroller, and car seat for infant granddaughter in addition to clothing, diapers, and wipes. Resource parent is on a limited income and is requesting these items in order to qualify for her infant grandchild to be placed in her home. The family would be appreciative of any help and want to explore all options to make the child as comfortable as possible at home.

Single mom, overwhelmed, first pregnancy, declined for Medicaid and WIC, needs prenatal care but can't afford it, is low on groceries and household supplies, needs baby items like car seat and baby bed. Her vehicle has a leak and it molds after it rains, even though the windows are up.

The thing that worries her most is needing to get prenatal care, but watching the bills pile up.

This request is from the family support specialist at the Middletown Early Learning Center. The family has a child in the preschool program and attends for half day sessions. The family phone and internet bills have been shut off, and they're in need $153 to turn on their cell phone service again and $205 for their internet service. School meetings are often held via Zoom and/or phone so both services are important for the family to maintain communication with the school.

Mother expecting 2nd child on 5/23. This child’s father is not involved, although has support from 1st child FOB. Both unemployed and without finances to put towards listed items. This mother was recently enrolled in our program for her 2nd child, although we did have her 5 years ago when her 1st child was born. Since our initial enrollment, this mother has shown much growth in her recovery and mental health. We have provided other resources in the community, although family has not been successful in obtaining these items. Any assistance available would be beneficial to this family- thank you!
