This request is being made on behalf of a single mother of four children who were scheduled to move into an apartment complex in mid-April. When moving in, the family noted a foul odor throughout the apartment and discovered large areas of the carpeting covered in animal urine. After pulling up the carpeting and padding, it appears that large portions of the carpet, padding, and subfloor are stained by urine and possible mold to the degree that Stanley Steamer declined to clean the carpeting. The apartment complex has refused to replace the carpet and padding and has told the family they can pay to replace the carpet or they can have their security deposit and rent already paid back. The family has no other place to live, must be out of the current home on May 31, and has an exemplary record of past tenancy in our community.

This devoted great-aunt and primary caregiver to her two great-nieces, ages 12 and 8, and her nephew, age 10. In 2020, Aunt was awarded legal custody of the children after they were removed from their mother's care. Since then, she has provided them with a stable, loving home environment where they feel safe and cared for. Recently, Aunt’s refrigerator ceased functioning, and despite her best efforts to maintain perishable items at a safe temperature, she is struggling to provide the children with well-balanced meals. As a loving, family-oriented individual, she is committed to ensuring they have what they need, but this unexpected challenge has placed additional strain on her resources. While she is diligently providing for the children's daily needs, the cost of necessary repairs, specifically the need for new tires, presents a significant barrier to ensuring reliable transportation. Reliable transportation is critical for our clients to maintain stability and ensure the well-being of the children. The considerable distance to the children's school necessitates a dependable vehicle with safe tires for daily attendance. Furthermore, safe and operational transportation, dependent on having proper tires, is required for scheduled visits and for getting the children to and from vital medical appointments. Without assistance specifically for obtaining new tires, our client's ability to meet these fundamental responsibilities will be severely compromised, impacting the children's education, health, and overall stability. This assistance is requested to alleviate a critical barrier preventing the client from managing her household and caring for the children effectively during this period of financial strain.

KVC is hoping to help a 5M child enroll in a summer Reading Program. This child is passionate about reading and learning and his placement wants to help him not lose any of the progress he has made reading this school year.

The reading program is called: Summer Reading Skills through the Bishop Seabury Academy in partnership with Avila University!

I am requesting assistance with a crib and a mattress for this family. The family is composed of the parents and four children (ages 4y, 6y, 8y, and 11mo). The mother is a stay-at-home mother; the father is employed and is the sole financial provider for the family. The 11-month-old child is currently co-sleeping in the same bed as the parents. The mother requested assistance in obtaining a crib and a mattress for the baby since at this time the parents cannot afford to buy one. If the crib and the mattress are provided to the family, it would ensure a safe sleep environment for the child and it would reduce the risk of SIDS.

Grace Chruch Family, a need in the community has come to our attention that we would like to help with. A mom needs help with an electric bill. She has 3 children ages 6, 2, and 5 months. The baby was born early and this has caused her to get behind on several bills. Thank you for any amount you feel led to fund.

Single mother (who Emmaus members have been walking alongside) escaping domestic violence from husband along with two kids under the age of 7 years. She is starting over from scratch as they left the house with nothing and has no extended family support. She would like to have a car which would provide transportation so she can get a job so that she can get into housing. We are hoping to provide $3,000 towards a vehicle.
