We are working with a mother of two children who are currently residing with a grandparent, as the mother is working on her substance use recovery as well as processing the loss of her significant other, who passed away suddenly. This mother is working through every program and service offered to her and continues to overcome obstacles thrown her way. She is dedicated to having her children return home to her in the next few weeks. At this time, we are working on visitation for her and her children as she gets them each weekend. The mother does not drive and has limited support in helping her get to a nearby county to pick her children up, as there is no bus route, and the grandparent has limited ability to transport the children here either. This mother is looking for a ride to and from a nearby county this sat. and sun. to help ensure she can see her children. If we cannot locate a ride, she would also benefit from a gift card to access an Uber.

Mom and her children were living in a shed on her grandmother’s property until it was repossessed after Mom lost her job and could no longer keep up with the payments. With no other housing options, the family moved into a tent on the same property—just as rain was in the forecast for the upcoming weekend. Amid these challenging circumstances, Mom reached out to the director of a transitional living program for women. She was accepted and they are now residing at location. Mom has since started working, but she needs a pair of black non-slip shoes to meet work requirements, marking an important first step toward stable housing. Mom has a limited support system and tends to be wary of others due to difficult past experiences. While she may come across as guarded or abrasive at first, once she begins to trust someone, her humor and personality start to shine through. Girl, age 8, clothing size 8/9 and shoe size 3.5. Boy, age 5 , clothing size 7 and shoe size 2. Boy, age 7, clothing size 8 and shoes size 4 Mom wears shoe size 9.5 Girl, and boy age 5 have upcoming birthdays, but their mother is currently unable to afford birthday gifts, they need spring and summer clothing. Boy age 7 loves the color blue, boy age 5 likes green, and girl adores purple! They’re crazy about Legos, superheroes, electronics, and anything outdoors. Girl has a special love for cats, and they all enjoy pretty, shiny things, drawing, and snapping fun pictures.

Father in need of blankets (1 twin and 2 queen), bed sheets (1 twin and 2 queen), pillows (1 twin and 4 queen), towels (4-6 hand and 4-6 bath) microwave, toaster, dishes, cutlery set, cups, pots, and pans. This family came to the attention of DCFS due to father’s substance abuse issues (alcohol) and marital problems with his second wife. The children’s biological mother was deported to Mexico and father has been taking care of his three children on his own. Father is partially complaint with his case goal plans. He participates in DCFS Random drug and alcohol tests and his results have been negative. Father is employed and provides for his children. Most recently father and his current wife have decided to separate, and father was forced to move out of the home immediately. Father slept in his car, while his children were able to remain in the small apartment with his ex-wife. Father struggled to find an apartment due to not having established credit. Thankfully father was finally able to find a small apartment for him and his three children. Father is committed to keeping his family together and providing them with a safe home environment. The children are well-behaved and well mannered. The children attend school and have not exhibited any serious behavioral issues. Father is responsive and makes the children and himself available for monthly visits. Father is committed to providing his children with a home that is stable and safe.

Family is in process of getting their children back and are need of bedding.

This kinship provider is in need of some financial assistance with groceries. There are multiple kiddos in the home and the provider could use some support. Any help is appreciated!!

This request is part of the Bundles of Hope initiative. Relative caregiver is caring for her 10 month old niece and 2 year old nephew placed in care. She is doing her best to provide a safe and nurturing environment for both child while also caring for own children. This loving aunt could benefit from assistance with a size 4 and 5 diapers and wipes showing her that she is supported in a community that cares.

We have a young widow, 33 yrs old, with three girls ages 11, 10, 8 years old in need of furniture, see listed needs. She graduated from Hope Gardens recently, is in school to complete her AA degree, and recently through the program was able get housing. This would help to create a comfortable living space for her and her daughters as she continues to futher her education and move forward in her healing and create a space for her daughters to thirve and grow.
