Olmsted County Community Responders

Single mom with a one-year old son in need of a highchair. Having a highchair would allow them to enjoy family meals together to help strengthen the family bond and attachment. In addition to using the highchair for meals, the highchair could be used for the one-year-old to practice coloring, which would enhance his fine motor skills.

I am working with a single mom who is moving this week, Thursday/Friday, May 15-16th. She is in need of beds for her children. She has two big boys, who each need a full-size bed. She has two younger boys and is in need of either two twins or a bunk bed. She also needs a kitchen table and chairs.

We have a single mom in recovery that has recently moved with very little of their belongings. Mom is attending treatment groups multiple times a week. Olmsted county has gotten mom her own bed, and at this time mom is sharing her ben with her 4yr old son. Mom has applied to get into The Jeremiah Project and is making great strides improve their life. Olmsted county has been using other resources to provide for to this family as well. Mom reached out to me and asked if I could help her get a twin bed for her son. She shares that they have been sharing her bed, but her son just needs his own bed for night-time. Once Mom is able to get her own place, Olmsted County will help get her set up with necessary items for their own apartment. At this time a twin bed and bedding is all that they need.

Family of 7 recently received housing after being homeless for a time. Parents are working to provide basic furnishings and have received some items, but still need including a few additional mattresses, sheets, and mattress covers.

Needs include:

• 2 Twin Beds
• 1 Queen Bed
• 4 Twin sized sheets
• 4 Twin sized waterproof mattress protectors.

Family is currently involved with social services and we have a teenage boy who is staying with family in an apartment that is not well air conditioned. Requesting a portable air conditioner (not one that goes into a window).

A family involved with social services recently moved to a new home and are in need of 2 full size mattresses for 2 of their children.

Mother with shared custody is needing to have her child with her full-time due to father's absence. She transports her child to school in Byron from Rochester each day. She is needing gas cards to continue to provide transportation through the remainder of the school year.

I have been working with a single mom for a while now and recently she found out that she is pregnant. This pregnancy is extremely important to her as she had a miscarriage last year. This pregnancy has also caused her severe sickness where she has had to take extensive time off from work due to being weak. She's had to have daily blood transfusions on top of this as well as caring for a 3-year-old by herself. She's run into financial issues this past year due to domestic violence from her former partner and her child's father onto her. She's had to move to a different residence, in part, because of this. She's attempted to reach out to different programs within the community to help with rental assistance. She makes too much money to qualify for Emergency Assistance and the county has assisted a few times with rent this past year. She's reached out to local churches and her family for help during this time. This mom is trying to get back on her feet and has a good plan moving forward as she is addressing her physical health during this pregnancy. Rental help and gas assistance will ensure that they are able to keep her apartment and also get her child to and from daycare as well as get her to and from her daily blood transfusions. She has appreciated this help so much!

A family with a total of 6 children, 3 boys and 3 girls. Two of the girls in the family, ages 11 and 13 have entered into foster care. The family has been faced with history significant trauma, of which has led to unintentional neglect and instability. Of which the two girls have struggled with maintaining social connections, education, and overall safety. Some stability has been obtained due to the current caregiver. Both girls are quite talented. The 13-year-old is in a sports activity which they have secured financial support for. The 11-year-old girl has incredible talent and passion for gymnastic and has earned a place on a competitive National Gymnastic Association team. This would be a new experience for her, and it is very important to her. The parents do not currently have the financial means to afford the initial or monthly costs for their child to participate in competitive gymnastics. I know this is a big ask...If it is at all possible for her to participate it would mean so much to her and her family. There are not any scholarships available at this time but there should be some available in future years. With considering the peer connections and esteem boost alone, this would be a positively impactful opportunity for her. Any support contributing towards this dream would be greatly appreciated. A low-income family is in need of some support. They have a very amazing 10 yr old daughter with Autism and are moving to better her living situation. Moving to Texas in July on the 16th. The needs of the family:

• Any moving help that can be provided, financial help with paying for U-Haul, or physical help. Three adults are moving with the 10-yr old, and two of the adults have physical disabilities.
• 10 yr old girl loves Minecraft, a movie night out for their family would bring Joy during a stressful moving time, tickets to the Rochester SE Theatre, Marcus Rochester Cinema, for mom, dad and 12 yr old daughter for a movie night. Mom with 3 kiddos in the home. Mom is in need of some toddler sippy cups, bowls, plates and silverware. Mom is a DV survivor and is on her own with no other family. Mom is working on herself before being able to pursue a job or education. The kids are under the age of 3. Mom could use foods and snacks as well for kiddos. Kiddos are a 2 year old and 2 6 month olds. Mom also is in need of a car seat for her 2-year-old. Her last car seat was in an accident and cannot be used.

Pregnant single mom is moving into her first apartment and would appreciate any help she can receive. She would like a queen mattress, vacuum cleaner, microwave, cleaning supplies and toiletries.
