In Sedgwick County, there are over 80 children in foster care waiting to be matched with an adoptive family. Kansas Kids Belong plans to film close to 30 of these waiting children through our I Belong Project. This will be our biggest video shoot yet and we could really use some help! We have a super fun day planned. Kids will get the chance to bowl, read to the therapy dog, design/decorate their own bowling shirt or charm bracelet, and more. Hey Team, since we are "Serving with Joy" I have a single mom that is currently in need and is employed with Wichita State University. She did some extra contractual work in marketing for WSU and when they finally paid her, it was short by $400. She was expecting the full amount in order to meet her rent. This underpayment was unexpected and unforeseen and is causing a hardship for her and her family. She is asking for help to secure her monthly rent. Any and all help is welcomed.

Hey Family, as we are "Serving With Joy"... This is a second request from a family fleeing a Domestic Violence situation. Mom is an Educator and doesn't receive unemployment during the summer when school is out. Her and her children (4) are forced to relocate. She is asking for assistance with her new rental place. The amount that is needed is $950.00. This family has experienced a lot of hardship and could really use our help.

This pregnant mom and her family are trying to move into a new apartment by the end of the month when their lease ends. She has to pay off a lease from a previous apartment before she is able to move into a new place. We are working on long-term planning for jobs, housing, and childcare. However, she is unable to move forward on any of those until she has this lease paid off and has a place to stay at the end of the month. She has about half of it saved up so far and needs about $500 to finally end that debt!

Hey CarePortal family, I have a request for help from a single mom. Her husband deserted the family without any financial support and he has no plans of returning. To ensure that this bio family of three can stay together safely, they need their utilities paid off (Evergy $1300.00 and Kansas Gas $609.00) because this is hindering their ability to get new service at another location. They also need help finding a new home or apartment to rent. This is a very difficult and stressful situation for this family and they could really use our help. Homeless family needs help with deposit and 1st months' rent. The Grandma welcomed three small grandchildren into her home when the daughter was sent to prison. She is providing a loving home for these children but was evicted when the landlord sold the house. The oldest son just started a job at Spirit and will live with the family for a year to help with rent to stabilize the family. Children 1st is paying for the hotel rooms, and the grandmother is actively looking for housing. Please help us get the family out of the hotel and into stable housing.

This family is in urgent need of a refrigerator and a deep freezer after their home was flooded due to recent rains and flash-flooding earlier this month. This family is facing a daunting recovery process with their four young children (ages 3 months to 7 years). Adding to their challenges, the mother and two of her children suffer from hemophilia, a rare bleeding disorder requiring extensive medical attention and costly treatment. Because their refrigerator went out, their medications were destroyed. The health insurance company will not cover costs to replace the medications.

This mom of 2 is asking for financial assistance as she steps back into work after having her youngest child. While she was in the last month of pregnancy her car stopped working. While she was on maternity leave she was able to make life work with her newborn and 2 year-old by staying home or using ride-shares sparingly. However, now that her maternity leave is done and she is going back to work, her insurance will not cover the cost of a rental while her car is being fixed. She is asking for financial help so that she can maintain going to work, but also having a running vehicle to get her children to appointments and daycare while her car is being repaired, which is estimated to take a month.

A faith-based organization that takes care of youth in foster care had two freezers quit working last week. They are currently getting a lot of free frozen meals and meat from the Food Bank and are constantly needing freezer space to store food. The freezers they are looking at are around $700 each. They do have two specific freezers they are looking at so they can give you the model number or put cash toward it. They are appreciative of any help they can get as they feed up to 37 youth in foster care each day.

A kinship family recently took placement of their two young grandsons, providing them with the stability and love they desperately need. However, like many relatives who step in during times of crisis, they were not financially prepared for the sudden addition of two growing boys to their household.

At the moment, both children are sharing a single queen bed, which is not a sustainable or comfortable long-term solution. Each child needs their own bed—a space of their own to rest, grow, and feel secure. Separate beds will not only support the children's physical and emotional well-being, but also help preserve the stability of this new family arrangement.

We are seeking two twin mattresses and bed frames to meet this urgent need. Your donation will help ensure this family can remain together in a safe and supportive environment.

The Foster Care Homes and the Licensing departments with Saint Francis works with relative, NRKIN, and general care foster homes, and tend to run into needs of these items listed to remain in compliance with DCF. SFM workers like to have these items on hand to help accommodate our families and ensuring they remain in compliance so children can remain in their home. Fire extinguishers, first aid kits, fire and CO2 detectors, and medication lock boxes are of the greatest need. Thank you for your consideration.

On 05/27/2025 mom identified needing urgent help with electric bill as electric is about to be shut off. There are four children in the home ranges ages 9 months, 6yo, 9yo & 15yo. MO has recently been approved for Section 8 housing and is actively searching for housing as the family is currently living in a very small 2 bedroom apartment. MO also reported needing assistance for clothes for the CH and food. (CPS gave MO resources- United Way One Page)
