This mother is in need of essential supplies for her newborn, with a particular urgency for a car seat and a pack n play. Efforts are being made to obtain these items through various resources such as Charlie’s House and Samuel Rogers, though success has yet to be achieved. While she speaks Sudanese Arabic, she faces challenges in reading both Arabic and English, making communication a challenge. However, she is aware that there are compassionate individuals working to assist her in acquiring these necessary items. Currently, she and her baby are still in the hospital, with a discharge anticipated for tomorrow. Let’s come together to support her in this critical time.

This family who lost their home in a house fire is in need of some new beds for their new home. Mom is who battling some medical problems is trying so hard at getting their home back together. She could use some help from her community in getting these items so that they have some new beds and a place to sleep in their new home. She has battled through multiple health problems and the house burning down and continues to fight everyday. She could use the help of her community to build her back up. An 8 year girl just entered foster care and will be having a birthday this week. This child came to the foster home with only the clothes on her back. The foster placement would like to purchase some new clothing items and a few toys to provide a meaningful birthday for this child as they have been separated from their family. I have a mom who just started her trial home visit and daycare won’t start till later in the month. Because daycare won’t start Monday, this mom is having to miss work and her job has really been understanding but she can’t miss 11 days of work. She is needing help with self pay until state pay kicks in.

The family is struggling, and an older sibling stepped in to take the younger siblings into their home. Adding three additional people into the home has created a financial burden on the older sibling, and they could benefit from a gas card and groceries.

Food bank/pantries in the area will be provided to the family as well, but in the meantime, they could use immediate assistance as the older sibling works.

The Jackson County Children's Division Prevention team has been working with an apartment complex on safety concerns around their facilities. We have had numerous talks with management and unfortunately the type of safety concerns were having are in the units only with children. The complex can only do so much and have agreed to work with us to help solve the concerns from both us and KCPD. The apt complex has had numerous police reports due to children being unmonitored at unsafe age. The children have been able to leave the apt building, via window, front door, or sliding glass doors. The locks that the apt complex have are old and the actual door to get into the building is self-open. We had event at the apartment complex where we were able to speak with close to 75 families about these safety concerns there having. Some of them the doors just do not lock, or they do not have the funds to get the proper child safety locks, some of them their children will leave while parents are sleeping and there's no lock on the door that is high enough away off the ground where a child cannot reach it. Sliding glass door locks anywhere from 10-20 of these would be beneficially.

This is a great opportunity for our community to come together and help a whole apartment complex with some baby proofing items they are in need of 50 lever locks and 5 sliding glass door locks to help keep their kids safe as the current locks do not work on the new doors that the apartment put in and these families could use your help. A 21-year-old mother has recently left a domestic violence relationship while her infant was brought into alternative care. The mother has done all that was asked of her, while continuing to advocate and provide for her daughter. A trial home visit began last week, reuniting the mother with her daughter. DSS is currently supporting a dedicated great-grandmother who is caring for her two great-grandchildren in her home. She is nurturing a two-year-old boy and a six-month-old girl, both of whom require additional resources.

The two-year-old boy needs pull-ups in size 4T, while the six-month-old girl requires diapers and several cans of Similac Advance formula.

Additionally, the two-year-old requires a car seat, and a pack-n-play is essential for the six-month-old. Thank you in advance for your support in this kinship placement.

A young girl and her family have recently relocated to Florida. During their time there, she connected with an adult male on Snapchat, who persuaded her to travel to Cincinnati, even covering the cost of her Greyhound ticket. When the child left home, her mother promptly filed a missing person report, and efforts to locate her have been ongoing. Fortunately, the child has been found in Cincinnati and is currently receiving care in a hospital while arrangements are made for her safe return home. The mother is diligently working full-time to provide for her daughters and maintain their home. An adult sister is ready and willing to fly to Cincinnati to bring her sister back, but the family is currently facing financial challenges that prevent them from affording the travel expenses.

DSS is looking to explore resources that can support this hardworking family. They have made incredible strides in transforming their home from a hoarding situation, showcasing their dedication and resilience. However, they are in need of essential items like clean beds and a gently sofa, as well as functional air conditioning units. With the heat rising, it’s crucial to address their comfort and well-being. Both adults are stepping into the workforce and are ready to collaborate with local churches to create a plan for support.
