A 16-year-old foster youth was recently placed with his paternal grandmother after years of not knowing each other. Despite the sudden placement, the two are working hard to build a relationship and create a sense of stability.

The grandmother, who is on a fixed income and currently receiving no financial assistance, is doing her best to support him. The youth arrived with only a few items of clothing, most of which no longer fit. He is in need of a new wardrobe and would greatly appreciate gift cards to Tillys, PacSun, or Zumiez. Even donated clothes in good condition would help. His sizes are: XL for undergarments, shirts, and shorts, and 38x32 for pants.

In addition, the youth needs a full-size bed frame, mattress, bedding, pillows, and a dresser, as the home was not prepared for his arrival. Since the grandmother does not have transportation, a bike and bike lock would also make a meaningful difference, helping him get to school and connect with his new community.

This young man has faced multiple placement disruptions, and providing some of these essentials could help him find the stability and comfort he needs in this new chapter of life. Any support—whether new or gently used—would be deeply appreciated. Thank you for considering this request.

I am writing to advocate on behalf of my client, who is in urgent need of steel-toed boots (women's size 10), 2 work pants size 6/8 size medium, and work gloves (large) in order to begin her newly secured warehouse job with expected start date of 7/08/2025. Currently, her available funds have gone to paying her rent for the month of July. These items are essential for meeting the safety and dress code requirements of her employer. My client is a single mother who is determined to maintain stable employment to provide for herself and her young son. Access to this job will offer financial stability and support her long-term goal of self-sufficiency. Without the required work gear, she risks losing this opportunity, which would negatively impact her progress and well-being.I strongly support her request for assistance with these items and urge any available resources or funding to be made accessible to help remove this barrier to employment. Dear Careportal, I am writing to respectfully request assistance in securing three beds and a crib for a single mother who is currently involved in an open DCFS case. This mother is a survivor of domestic violence and has recently taken a major step toward rebuilding her life by moving into her own apartment. Her children are in the process of being returned to her care, and while she is deeply committed to creating a safe and stable home, she currently does not have the financial means to provide beds for her children. Obtaining these beds would not only relieve significant stress for the mother but also offer her children a sense of stability, security, and comfort during this critical time of transition. Your support would allow this family to begin healing together in a safe and supportive environment. It would also enable the mother to focus on her continued progress, including maintaining her home and meeting the needs of her children. On 2/21/2024. Court will order and allow the child to be cremated. DCFS to make best efforts to pay for the cremation of the child.

DCFS Policy for Burial is only for Foster Care Providers only NOT parents and the fees have to be paid upfront, and forms submitted to be reimbursed. CSW reached out to the person who sent the Morgue Release Letter via email, with the Notifications Section LAC Medical Examiner-Coroner's Office. This CSW asked for the Health Department and County Morgue Tax ID numbers. This CSW was provided with a flyer on how to obtain the ashes. Obtain the Health Permit first. Can obtain the Death Certificate at the same time. Once fee is paid present permit obtained to the Medical Center and pay the Cremation fee. Once fee is paid, will provide the driving directions to the Los Angeles County Crematory/Cemetery. CSW informed that the County Morgue and Health Department do not have Tax Id's and therefore would not be able to submit for funding and no other funding available. Person would have to pay the fees upfront and get reimbursed. The Department is trying to assist Ms. Moore with obtaining Royal ashes however, there does not appear to be any funding available for this situation. Trying to obtain to obtain the ashes of the child, Royal Terry who passed away on 12/23/2023 from the LA County Morgue on behalf of Mother. Health Permit is $11.00 dollars. Death Certificate $24. dollars. Cremation $352.00 dollars. Total of $387.00 dollars.

I have a family who is struggling financially and are unable to get a crib for the 5 months old boy. The parents are dealing with unexpected expenses related to a very expensive surgery that the 5 years old needs to have as soon as possible due to a medical diagnosis. The parents are hopeful to be able to overcome the current struggles they are facing financially to be able to continue providing safe environment for the children to thrive. Currently the parents are co-sleeping with the 5-month-old, and are in need of a crib, mattress, and sheets so that the baby can sleep independently. The parents are not able to afford purchasing a crib at this time. Providing these basic necessities would diminish the emotional stressors on the family. By fulfilling this request, it would help the Department reduce the family's financial burden and help prevent court involvement and ensure family stability.

The mother is currently unemployed to be able to care for her six children. The only sole provider in the home is the father, and he work as a laborer. However, he has not been able to work much lately due to all the immigration enforcement currently going on in the city. The mother and father are also financially supporting the mother’s 16 years old daughter who has a 7-month-old baby of her own that also resides in the home. Currently, the mother and father are co-sleeping with the one-year-old child. The family is in need of a crib for the one-year-old to sleep independently. Providing these basic necessities would diminish the emotional stressors on the family. By fulfilling this request, it would help the Department reduce the family's financial burden and help prevent court involvement and ensure family stability.

The minor mother and her baby reside with the maternal grandmother, who is currently unemployed. The minor mother is attending high school and is slated to graduate next year and plans to attend college to be able to provide a better life for her and her child. The minor mother is co-sleeping with the baby and is in need of a crib so that the baby can sleep independently. Providing these basic necessities would diminish the emotional stressors on the family. By fulfilling this request, it would help the Department reduce the family's financial burden and help prevent court involvement and ensure family stability and a safe sleeping arrangements for the baby.

On 6/9/25, child (age 8) started her conditioning for her bone morrow transplant with radiation for 4 days straight and then the transplant was conducted on 6/14/25. Also, sibling, child, (age 4) bone morrow will be extracted for the transplant. Last month, Mother car was repossessed, and mother used the RENT money to get the car back and now the families rent is overdue, and the family received a three-day pay or quit notice. Mother is not working in order to be with child daily at the hospital. Gas is costly, while mother goes back and forth from the hospital to home during day and at night to be with her other 3 children. Mother is the only adult in the home and the only provider.

The Department is removing an infant from the hospital and trying to place the baby with relatives. The baby is a preemie and is under 5lbs. The relatives were not prepared to have a baby in their home and will not be receiving any funding for the child for at least a month. In order to place the baby, the family is in need of a car seat, crib with mattress, and bedding. In order to help the family care for the infant properly, we are asking for a car seat with stroller and base travel system, crib with mattress, bedding, 3 packs of preemie/newborn diapers and wipes, and about 10 preemie/newborn outfits for a boy.

Currently working with a mother and father who have 2 children. 12 yr.. old and a newborn. The family is living in a one bedroom with a queen bed and a twin bed. The newborn co-sleeps with the parents. They have no basinet or crib for the baby, and no room to fit a crib. This is not a safe practice, and family is in need of a newborn co-sleeper for safe sleeping. The father works in an other country and sends money home for his family. Father is currently in LA for the birth of their son. The mother is currently on family bonding time and has to return to work soon. She lives with her mother, her brother and her 2 sons.

Dedicated foster parents are true lifesavers. One incredible caregiver has spent years lovingly supporting many foster children. Resilient and compassionate, she now faces financial strains. She is replacing damaged furniture and providing clothes, shoes, and groceries for the children this summer has become extremely difficult. Despite the challenges, her priority remains their well-being and keeping them safe, cared for, and together.

This youth is a client of Regional Center living independently for the first time in his life. This youth has faced tremendous challenges, including the death of his mother a few years ago, and his father's paralysis. He has been in the system for many years, but he has finally managed to earn his high school diploma and obtain housing. He is currently searching for employment and working on removing barriers in his life to do so.

This youth needs support with basic household necessities, including toiletries, bath mats, and curtains.
