Help Improve a Child's Safety/Wellbeing
Hello! I have a single mother that is in need of getting help for some car repairs so that she and her daughter can get back to South Dakota by the end of next week. The child was previously being cared for by extended family, however due to serious allegations, she is unable to go back to them and her mother is needing to relocate with her out of state. The family has been through a lot of trauma and the father is no longer living. Her car is in need of a new muffler, oil change, and possibly new brakes. This mother would greatly appreciate the help. Thank you!

Help Improve a Child's Safety/Wellbeing
This family is looking to have some financial support with therapy for the children. At this time, there are financial barriers to being able to involve the children in therapy, as the copays through mom's insurance are $40/week for each child. At $320 a month, this puts the family in a hard financial situation. The children require therapy as part of their court ordered treatment plan, as well as the general benefit to the children's mental health and processing the trauma that they have endured. We are asking for 6 weeks worth of assistance while we find alternative financial support for these kiddos.

Help Improve a Child's Wellbeing
I am working with two children, one is a 14 y/o male and the other is a 3 y/o female. The 14 y/o is a survivor of a kidnapping and has been placed into foster care with his sister. He had been living with his abductor for over seven years and when this was found out, their home was raided by law enforcement. It is not known what items have and have not been recovered. His number one request was to get his bike back. Because it is unknown whether this will be possible, I am requesting support in getting a new bike so that he has one. He is taller, so it would likely be better to provide a Dick's Sporting Good's giftcard so he can go try it out and ensure it fits him well.

Help Make a Kinship Placement
Jefferson County Division of Children, Youth, Family and Adult Protection is requesting help with assisting the families they serve. This request will primarily assist children who are suddenly placed in foster or kinship care, when they do not have personal items to take with them.
The Division is requesting personal hygiene items to have on-hand for children in this situation. Needs vary, but often include toothbrushes, toothpaste, shampoo and conditioner, feminine hygiene products, body wash, deodorant and various sizes of socks and underwear. Your generosity is appreciated. Thank you for considering this request.

Help Preserve an Adoptive Placement
Hello, I am working with a family that consists of a grandfather caring for his 16yr old granddaughter. He adopted her after her mother died from a drug overdose and has been caring for her since she was a young girl with his wife. Three years ago, grandfather lost his wife. Grandfather and granddaughter struggle with significant health and mental health concerns, and lately the courts have been getting involved with concerns for conditions of the home. Grandfather does not want to lose his granddaughter, so the family has been working hard with me to remove the trash, get rid of old broken furniture, and get the home in better shape. As we have cleaned, I've noticed that the one piece of furniture in the living room (where grandfather spends much of his day) is a very old, dirty couch with missing cushions and exposed springs. Additionally, Grandfather struggles to stand up from the couch as it's very low to the ground so many times, he just sleeps there at night.
I'm hoping to get the family a new couch, or even better- a recliner that lifts up to help folks stand up easier with a loveseat/regular recliner for others to sit. Grandfather has been the only stable person in granddaughter's life, and it would be nice if the two of them had a place to sit together while they continue to organize and clean. I've seen the family motivated by small things (like a new wall calendar) so if I could tell them there would be new furniture coming, it would make their whole year! :)

Help Improve a Child's Safety/Wellbeing
This family is here through Asylum after fleeing their country. They have faced several hardships while here seeking safety but have been working hard to meet their family's needs while staying within the bounds of what they are legally required to do to continue to be granted asylum. Dad has been working extremely hard to take care of his family of 6, and mom was recently authorized to begin work, which will benefit the family. However, most of their funds go towards their basic nutrition needs and dad cannot find work right now because his previous job was seasonal. Additionally, one of the children has faced mental health challenges resulting from being the victim of a crime here in the US, which has led to emotional and financial stress for the family. The family was recently asked to leave where they've been staying at no fault of their own. They are temporarily moving into a small apartment with a friend but have no furniture or bedding. They would greatly benefit from a blender, griddle, sheets, blankets, pillows, suitcases, storage bins, or even a small dresser. ANY help at all towards this request would greatly benefit this family while they continue navigating employment, the legal immigration system, language barriers, etc., even if the entire request is not met.

This family has been able to find a stable living situation, and were able to sort out an agreement with their landlord to pay only the rent, and have 6 months to pay the security deposit of $2600. This family is still in desperate need of furniture, specifically dressers and mattresses. However, they are no longer needing suitcases or bedding at this time.
