This mother is in need of some furniture for her apartment so her biological son can return to her care/home. She is in need of Living room furniture (couch), kitchen table and chairs, twin mattress, twin bedframe, bedding/sheet set, blankets, pillows, dresser, pots and pans. I have a single parent mom of three needing some assistance. Mom currently works as in intake specialist on third shift. She gets home and drives her three daughters to school everyday. She has held her job for the past 18months.

She was unhoused a couple of weeks ago. She lived in her apartment for 5yrs prior to becoming unhoused. Her landlord decided to sell the house and gave her a 'notice to quit'. She stayed in a hotel and drove her kids to school every morning. She was able to stay with a friend for a couple of weeks and save enough money for an apartment. She signed her lease and received her keys today!

All of her money went to covering the rent and security deposit. Although she has stated she is content and blessed, and more than willing to wait until she can purchase them--the family could use some beds. She has three school aged daughters; 3rd grade, second grade, and kindergarten. Although it has been a struggle, Mom has remained faithful and postive throughout the situation. The family can really benefit from having beds, and making their new home a little more comfortable. Thank you.

A Kent County Foster Care Agency is looking for help with purchasing a John Ball Zoo membership that would allow for children and parents visit the zoo during parenting times. This would allow for visits to take place in a fun and engaging location within the community when community visits are deemed appropriate. The cost for a non-profit membership is $350.

This is a Haitian Family of 6 (parents and 4 kids) who are enrolled in one of Bethany's Refugee Adult and Family Programs. This family moved into their home last year in August after experiencing short term homelessness. The family lived with friends for a while with their four children. They finally have a new place, but only one parent is working while the other continues to look for work. While the kids do have beds, the parents do not have the luxury of affording a bed at this time, so they have been sleeping on a mattress on the floor. A queen-sized bedroom set (bed, dresser, side table) would meet the need for these parents. Thank you for considering!

A Kent County Foster Care Agency is looking for funding to obtain a Grand Rapids Children's Museum membership to support additional communication locations for parenting times to take place. The cost of an organizational membership through the museum is $500 per year. Having this membership would allow agency staff, children, and biological parents to complete parenting time in an enjoyable location when visits within the community are appropriate.

We are in need of a large meal TOMORROW 5/8 and FRIDAY 5/9 At AYA Youth Collective we serve upwards of 70 youth a day who are experiencing homeless with a hot meal.We are a drop-in and housing resource center for youth 14-24 that are experiencing homelessness and hot meals are vital to our day to day services. We need a meal that serves 60 people on each day. Meals can be anything that a 14-24 year old would enjoy - things like pizza, pasta, tacos, chili, chicken/pork sandwiches, etc.

Family is in need of Go! Bus passes for their teenage son and mom to get to his medical appointments and therapies. The son was in a car accident several years ago. The son has multiple appointments per week and the family faces financial barriers to obtaining a handicap accessible van. Books of 10 Go! Bus Tickets cost $35. Any amount of tickets would be helpful for this family.

Good afternoon. I have been working with a particular family for two years now. They are a family of two adults and seven children-two of the children are Special needs students.
This family moved to Grand Rapids two years ago and has lived in various hotels for the duration of their stay in Grand Rapids. They have struggled to maintain a consistent hotel to stay in for various reasons-cost, too many people, and lack of employment. Despite the difficulty they have experienced through their living situation, they have continued to make sure all their children continue to attend school. They have been able to obtain employment in the past two weeks, and appear they could finally become stable. They have moved to three hotels over the past week, and they are really wanting to be able to stay at one hotel until they can obtain housing. The will not receive their first paycheck for two weeks. They should be able to maintain things from that point. The Motel requires families to pay a weekly rate. The rate they were quoted is $300/wk. The ask if for two weeks hotel stay, as it is close to their new job, and it is also relatively close to their school. If anyone is able to help, it will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I have a student who's attendance has been lacking and we have had a hard time connecting, today he shared he hasn't been coming to school because he is embarrassed about his shoes and the holes in them but his family is not in a place financially to purchase new ones. This youth entered care in May 2024. January 2025 the youth was removed from relative care home. She was placed in a foster home. Relative care has refused to give this youth their clothing and shoes. At this time this youth is in need of clothes and shoes. Foster parent has done as much shopping as she can to build the wardrobe. The youth will still need summer attire as it begins to get warm.

Family is currently being evicted from their home and are in need of funds to stay in a motel while their situation is resolved. A daily rate is around $80 a night for the Days Inn and we are requesting a stay for 5 days, but we would like to give the family options, so that price may fluctuate. We are requesting $400 to help cover this need.
