Help Support a Youth Aging Out
I am requesting assistance to help a young adult who is 18 years old and in foster care. He has been accepted to a university, and will be moving to his first Supervised Independent Living placement (SIL) College dorm outside of Houston. This is his first home that he will live in independently after living in foster homes. He is currently in his last semester of high school and expects to graduate in the end of May 2025. He is currently unemployed and has been diligently applying to part time jobs to help him cover his cost of living. He is in need of assistance of purchasing a mini fridge, school supplies (pens, binder, etc.), Tupperware, first aid kit, umbrella, shower cady for his dorm. Any assistance he would be grateful. Thank you.

We have a family displaced to a hotel in the Hobby airport area. We have helped them in various ways including providing mileage reimbursement. However, 2011 Volkswagen Routan SEL has broken several times. She says it gets overheated and uses alot of oil. In addition, the battery is dead. We are not sure exactly what is needed.
Updated on May 08, 2025 by an Agency Worker
The parent was able to replace her battery yesterday. She put oil in it, but it all leaked out. She was able to call a mobile mechanic, and he told her the part that she needed to order from Amazon. It will be here tomorrow. He wants $450.00 for labor. Our new request is someone to put the part on or an affordable resource.

Help Improve a Child's Wellbeing
The foster mom reached out to the case manager because the backyard porch has been collecting water when it rains. The family isn’t sure how to fix it but they’d like to find a solution so the foster child can keep playing with their toys outside without any issues.
The family is requesting assistance with repairing their porch; they are thinking about either a deck or raising the concrete but will be thankful for anything.
THIS AMOUNT IS UNKNOWN at this time. If several folks pitch in together, for labor and wood, etc., then the amount could be "any amount." Please understand that I am putting this value in so everyone will read this but it could be $100-$1,000+. Thank you for any leads or information you can provide.

Help Improve a Child's Safety/Wellbeing
A single mother of two teenage sons is seeking financial assistance to cover the costs associated with securing a new apartment. The necessary expenses include an application fee of $35 and a deposit of $250. The family was recently evicted and is currently staying in a hotel. The mother is employed and expects to receive her paycheck on Friday evening. In addition to the application fee and deposit, she requires $149.30 to cover two nights of hotel accommodations. With this support, she hopes to move into the new apartment by Monday. The new residence is more affordable than their previous dwelling, making it a sustainable housing option. Assistance in this matter would provide the family with a safe and stable place to stay during this transitional period.

Help Improve a Child's Safety/Wellbeing
A family with a single mother and three children has experienced homelessness over the past year. Their homelessness has included periods living in a hotel, staying with friends, and residing in a shelter. The mother was able to secure employment and save enough funds for a deposit and two months' rent to move into an apartment. After significant sacrifices, the family is now living in their own apartment; however, due to financial constraints, they have limited resources. The family is in need of furniture such as three bed frames with mattresses, a couch or sofa, pots and pans for cooking, and a kitchen table. They also need clothing, as they were only able to bring a limited amount of their belongings. The family's sizes are as follows:
- Mother wears a size 14 in pants, a large in women's tops, and 8.5 in women’s shoes.
- Daughter wears a size 6/7 in junior pants, medium in women's tops, and size 9 in women’s shoes.
- Youngest daughter wears a size 8T (children’s) in tops and bottoms, and size 1-2 in children's shoes. This support would help this family finally move past their difficult circumstances and transform their new apartment into a true home.

Help Improve a Child's School Attendance
Single mother of a middle school fifth grade girl broke ankle at work. Parent pays daily an uber riding back and forth with child to school in morning and afternoons to get child safely to school. She is unable to drive them in parent scooter anymore as her foot is in a cast. She will need to do this until end of school year in May. Family lives less than 2 miles but she does not feel child is safe walking. Can Care portal assist family that is receiving food stamps and now workman's comp for income and does not have car with an uber gift card to help some. There may be local programs in area that can provide shuttle safely, I found one for afternoon drop off only for 50 dollars a week but parent needs morning as well. They have no family here to help and child had to stay two days at home to help mother initially with broken foot.
