A family of 3 is in need of pest control services in the house they recently moved into. A single mom of two young student is fighting the battle of bed bugs and roaches after moving into a new home after living in a motel long-term. The family is experiencing financial hardship after costs associated with moving and utility deposits, they are not able to afford these services on their own. We are asking for the costs of these services to be covered to improve the wellbeing of the students' home life and to keep the bugs from spreading to other students within the school. A local pest control company went out and quoted the following: Bed Bugs Services (Initial) $380 Bed Bug Services (Second Treatment) $190 Roaches $50 each treatment (2 needed) to bed bug service $670 total for all 4 services

This request is for 2 children in relative care. The children are 1 and 11 months old. The maternal grandparents are financially strained and the caregiver is not getting any funding yet. The children need clothes, pull ups and wipes. The little boy is almost 2 years old and in a size 3 T clothing and size 4 T Pull-ups. The little girl is 11 months old and wears size 24 months or 2 T. She wears size 2-3 T for Pull-ups. The caregivers stated the clothes do not have to be new. The caregivers noted the children have grown out of most their clothing and they are financially not able to purchase any clothing until they start getting some funding. They are ok with someone contacting them and wanted to express their thank appreciation for any help.

A mother and father who are married and their children's great grandmother recently moved into a new rental home together and put all of their money into obtaining the housing as they were previously living in a hotel room. The mother is pregnant but having complications and is supposed to be on bed rest. The father is the only adult working at this time. The family would benefit from a washer and electric dryer as they are currently hand washing clothing items. The family is in need of a toddler size bed frame for the youngest child, groceries, diapers: size 3, pull ups: size 3/4, and baby wipes. The fulfillment of these needs would benefit the family and allow the family to continue working towards improving the condition of the home; i.e. painting and retiling some areas of the home's flooring.

Child needs a complete bedframe, mattress and vanity for her room. Caregiver has been caring for her nephew and niece for the past year and a half as she became the legal guardian for both to avoid having the children go into foster care in North Carolina. Caregiver currently works a part-time job and adding to additional members to the household has been financially challenging. Although, caregiver is having that challenge, caregiver took initiative and decided to take guardianship of her nephew and niece because she did not want the children to end up in the foster care system. The youth were previously in foster care, and caregiver did not want the youth to have to go through that experience once again. Furthermore, caregiver is committed to providing continuous care for her niece as she is doing great since moving to California. Caregiver is resilient and continuous to push through in providing a loving and nurturing environment for the youth. Though money is a factor, caregiver was recently able to move into a 2-bedroom apartment so that the youth can have her own room and space. The youth has been through extensive abuse and trauma from her time in North Carolina yet does not let that define her and continues to do well for herself. Caregivers' goals are to ensure that the youth is able to attend Culinary School after graduating from high school this year. The estimated cost of the needs being requested is around $600-$900.

This provider is taking care of three of her grandchildren. She is a single woman who works full time and does not have a budget for many extra things. The children have accumulated some things since they have been with her, so she needs an additional dresser for them. She also is requesting two new beds, including frames and mattresses.

Volunteer Opportunity: Help Deliver Groceries to Pickerington Seniors and Residents with Disabilities

The Pickerington Area Resource Coalition seeks 9 dedicated volunteers to assist with monthly grocery deliveries for seniors and individuals with disabilities in the Pickerington community.

Our next delivery date is Thursday, May 1. Volunteers will pick up pre-packed grocery bags at Kroger (7833 Refugee Rd.) between 12:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. and deliver them to recipients' homes within Pickerington.

All names and addresses will be provided in advance. This is a recurring opportunity, taking place once a month.

An expectant mother is in need of basic items for a newborn due later this month April. The mother's community health coach requested a pack-n-play (bassinet), infant car seat, diapers, wipes. These items will allow the child safe transport and a safe sleeping environment. The diapers and wipes will supply the baby's needs for a few weeks. We still need funds for the CARSEAT and DIAPERS. A single mom recently moved from the shelter into her own apartment with her daughter with special needs. Her daughter is blind, autistic and has other complications from Optic Nerve hypoplasia. Mom states that she works but with her rent being $900 a month it has left her unable to provide a few necessary items. The home does not have a working a/c and high heat places the young child at risk of a stroke. A window unit could help provide comfort and wellbeing for the child. The home could use a few items including couch cover up as well as girls clothes size 10-12. Mom also stated that her daughter’s favorite item is an electric keyboard piano but she accidentally bumped into it and it broke. She has not been able to afford to buy a new or used one. A used one that someone could donate would be great! Any help with these few items would be greatly appreciated and significantly improve the life of a mom and child who have been through a lot.

We had a family of 10 come to us about 2 weeks ago. They had moved here from Arizona with housing lined out and a job. Unfortunatley the housing fell through 2 hours before they got to Oklahoma. They were forced to use the funds they had to live in a hotel. When that money ran out they came to us and we were able to put them up for 2 weeks. During that 2 weeks the father started working and has found a 5 bedroom home locally but doesn't have the full amount for the deposit. They can move in as early as today but are missing that 1200.00. Thank you in advance for your faithfulness!
