A mother with two young children in foster-care is actively leaving a domestic violence situation today. This mother left the home with nothing but the clothes on her back. Please consider donating a gift card for Walmart to this mother. She needs clothing items, hygiene items and other necessary items. This is an critical need.

This family who lost their home in a house fire is in need of some new beds for their new home. Mom is who battling some medical problems is trying so hard at getting their home back together. She could use some help from her community in getting these items so that they have some new beds and a place to sleep in their new home. She has battled through multiple health problems and the house burning down and continues to fight everyday. She could use the help of her community to build her back up. The Jackson County Children's Division Prevention team has been working with an apartment complex on safety concerns around their facilities. We have had numerous talks with management and unfortunately the type of safety concerns were having are in the units only with children. The complex can only do so much and have agreed to work with us to help solve the concerns from both us and KCPD. The apt complex has had numerous police reports due to children being unmonitored at unsafe age. The children have been able to leave the apt building, via window, front door, or sliding glass doors. The locks that the apt complex have are old and the actual door to get into the building is self-open. We had event at the apartment complex where we were able to speak with close to 75 families about these safety concerns there having. Some of them the doors just do not lock, or they do not have the funds to get the proper child safety locks, some of them their children will leave while parents are sleeping and there's no lock on the door that is high enough away off the ground where a child cannot reach it. We are hoping for about 50 window locks, eSynic Durable 10 Pack Window Restrictors Locks Easy to Install Window Restrictor Child Safety Window Lock with Screws Keys Limiting Opened Distance is the name of them on amazon. It is about $35 for 10 window locks.

Sliding glass door locks anywhere from 10-20 of these would be beneficially.

This is a great opportunity for our community to come together and help a whole apartment complex with some baby proofing items they are in need of 50 lever locks and 5 sliding glass door locks to help keep their kids safe as the current locks do not work on the new doors that the apartment put in and these families could use your help. This would serve 76 children and over 20 families this would be a huge help for this community. These lever locks would help prevent accidents and give parents peace of mind. DSS is currently supporting a dedicated great-grandmother who is caring for her two great-grandchildren in her home. She is nurturing a two-year-old boy and a six-month-old girl, both of whom require additional resources.

The two-year-old boy needs pull-ups in size 4T, while the six-month-old girl requires diapers and several cans of Similac Advance formula.

Additionally, the two-year-old requires a car seat, and a pack-n-play is essential for the six-month-old. Thank you in advance for your support in this kinship placement.

This youth is trying to get their Birth certificate so they can begin their job they have lined up in the trades. He is working really hard and has everything else lined up but is needing help from his community so he can start his job. He struggled with being in and out of his parents house but is now putting together is life on his own as he ages out. This youth works so hard at making sure he has a better life then what was in his past. Thank you for your support as always.

Family received a shut off notice from their water company. Baby arrived extremely early and began their stay in the Small Baby Unit. Due to baby arriving so early, baby has remained in critical condition. With baby being so sick, parents have been staying at bedside, trying to spend time with him and hold him. Dad's employment is out of state and he has been unable to return to work as he has been remaining at here, to spend time with baby and emotionally support mom and their other children. Mom shared with me that they are able to set up a payment plan to avoid their water being turned off but would need assistance with the initial payment.

Seeking support for a single mother and her son who are in the final stages of reunification after several years apart due to foster care involvement. This family has worked hard to rebuild their bond and is very close to being together again full-time.

The mother recently secured a new home; however, the refrigerator in the unit is non-functional. In order to ensure a safe and stable environment for her son, we are requesting assistance in obtaining a working refrigerator as soon as possible.

A mother and her 3 children (2, 3 & 5 years old) are at risk of losing their housing due to ongoing housekeeping concerns. She has been working closely with me to improve the condition of the home, and throughout this process, I learned that she doesn’t have many of the basic items she needs to keep things clean and livable. She has no towels or washcloths for herself or the children, and no cleaning supplies beyond the very basics. This family is in need of towels, washcloths, a mop and bucket, cleaning rags, and floor cleaner. Meeting this need will give her the tools to care for her home, support her in maintaining stable housing, and help create a cleaner, healthier environment for her kids.

A mother who recently secured safe and stable housing for herself and her family is in need of a few essential furniture items to help make their new space feel like home. Specifically, she is looking for a couch, a dresser, and a TV stand. If you have any of these items in good condition that you are no longer using and would be willing to donate at NO COST to this parent, it would make a huge difference for this family as they get settled. An older youth who has re-entered care due to her guardianship dissolving is needing a laptop to complete her schoolwork. She is enrolled but put on a hiatus until she can access a computer regularly for her assignments. With her caseworkers help, it was confirmed that she can re-enter the program once she obtains a computer. This would allow for her to set her own academic goals, as well as apply for jobs to gain independence as she progresses towards aging out from care.
